Exp of Interest: Going to Japan, get your orders in ...

Recommended Posts

hi Jim,

i've looked everywhere for a PFC for the R32 GTS-T, but so far have only found the AP Engineering version online. Would like to register my interest for one unit of whatever is available for the RB20 (PFC alone).

Tks, KJ

Scotty & Eric, let me see what I can do. At the moment the main orders will be for PFC's ...

As mentioend earlier, the buying for peeps whilst in Japan is something I dont wish to take over the entire trip, so if it's going to be difficult to find or get back over here in one peice then I'll have to say no to it.

Let me see what I can do ...

Dave & Mist, interest noted.

Ok guys,

Information I have been advised thus far places prices at $1385 AUD for a New (in box, manual, etc) Power FC.

Unsure as to how much the injectors, handcontrollers and misc versions of PFC are going to cost however it's a little difficult in the translation of these different models :) But will certainly have the information shortly.

If anything changes in terms of stamp duty etc then obviously this will adjust the end price, however we should know before leaving as order will have to be confirmed, placed and pre-payment made before we leave.

The trip has been moved to the start of December which gives you all a little more time to save up the $$$ if needs be.

Jimbo,

I thank for you time and consideration in going to all this trouble for us Skyliners but unfortunately this seems a little on the high side for me. In comparison I have a quote from Hikari and Greenline in the region of A$1450 delivered for PFC+H/C.

Please remove my expression of interest. Have a great trip guys and really enjoy yourselves.

Cheers

Muz

No probs guys ... Jay & Muz, the fact is the prices you're quoting don't include duty (which seems to be what is reflected in all threads on these part import companies). I dare say I could also quote prices of $1450 for a PFC+HC and in fine print write that duty is payable by the individual on arrival of goods

No-one can gaurentee you wont pay duty when you are illegally importing items and bypassing duty ... and I certainly wont be stung paying 15% import duty and 10% GST over what I have been given for the goods I'm bringing back for other people in good faith, which is why all prices quoted include duty.

Compared to most retail prices in Aus of $1800 for a PFC alone, I thought this to be a bargain (not to mention most 2nd hand PFC's being sold around the figure I'm quoting) ....

I'm not here to make money, not a single penny ... at the same time I cannot be expected to pay for duty and taxes on items out of my own pocket when I step off the plane for items I have brought back for other people. I'm here to offer an opportunity to anyone who wants to gain a legal saving on some performance items compared to retail prices. If you wish to try and play hit and miss with duty and getting the items you've paid for (have a look for some of the horror stories) that is your choice.

Here is a sample of a disclaimer from one such website -

"Buyers agree to indemnify, defend and hold Greenline Motorsports, the webmaster and its affiliates harmless from any loss, claim and expense, including reasonable legal fees that may arise from the content or use of the Greenline Motorsports website."

In english, if your goods are lost whilst being shipped in such a way to avoid paying duty, you're up shit creek.

"Greenline Motorsports is not responsible for any tariffs, taxes, and regulations that may exist in destination countries. Greenline Motorsports is not responsible for shipping delays"

To summarise if caught, you pay the duty.

Now lets take the example of the Power FC + HC combo ..

105,885.00 JPY = 1,408.81 AUD

1,408.81 AUD + 25 % = $1,761.01 AUD

---------------

* The $1385 I am quoting for a PFC is to your door, including taxes, duty and shipping.

* There is no way around paying duty and taxes on these items, I will be bringing back a suitcase full of things for friends, it will not get past customs.

* If this is not what you are after then best of luck in sourcing items this cheap any other way.

Can those who are still interested please confirm.

Jimbo,

As I said in my last post, I, and I am sure everyone else on this forum that registered an expression of interest, do not for one moment think that you had any intention of making "a quick buck". I certainly appreciate the opportunity that you have provided to all on this forum. Unfortunately the price is little beyond my meagre income at this point in time.

Once again I thank you and sincerely hope that you enjoy your trip. Take heaps of photo's and put them up for all to see on your return.

Cheers and best of luck

Muz

I will mate .. just rubs me the wrong way sometimes when people seem to assume I could offer a price that would mean I'd have to be bringing the goods into the country in a way so to avoid paying the duty and taxes required.

Unfortunately I just dont have the cash out of my own pocket to try it and spring for 25% more on everyones PFC when getting inevitably caught, which is why I would have to quote duty and taxes in the costs.

hey dude. what happens if you do make it past customs? i guess it would be a pain in the ass to send the extra money back to people but yeah.

You know there is a pretty good chance you will make it past without them caring. God knows i have done some weird things with my luggage before. Bringing in boxes and boxes of computer hardware and never been sniffed at...

I am still willing to pony up $1385 or whatever it was because I agree with you that it is a pretty good deal still. At least its you and not some unknown guy (not that the online stores are bad, i just have never dealt with them).

I'll send you a PM.

Good point, the thing is though I'm not even going to try not declaring the items ... I will literally have an additional suitcase (no clothes, no crap, just stuff from Japan) full of everything from PFC's, Cameras, Laptops, all boxed ..... you can understand that when this thing goes through a scanner it's going to look like I'm a member of Al-Queda .. and I don't really want my return to involve a latex glove and a bit of this :shake:

I have tried taking one laptop through customs before and basically had to dismantle the entire thing (batteries, disk drives, etc) because of people apparantly trying to conceal weapons in laptops !?

I will have everything itemised and arranged to try and make things as quick as possible, as well as receipts for all goods.

I will confirm confirmations (hehe) by PM.

just confirming my PFC order is still on.

edit: Actually I might have to cancel since i found a deal which includes the hand controller and boost controller for a pretty good price. No hard feelings :D:(

im sure you'd prefer less junk to lug back anyway!

hey Jim, just wanted to let u know that I have obtained the AP Eng Power FC from another source already, so will not be taking part in this group buy. Couldn't wait, needed it urgent.

Regards,

KJ

Group buy closed .....

I have received 10 confirmed PFC orders by PM, and pending funds transfer, it will have to be left at that. Those who have received a PM in response to their confirmations, please make sure funds are trasferred to the specified account asap as I will need to pre order.

Those who have not received a reply, I'm sorry however due to the amount of gear we are brining back I have had to limit amount of goods we could bring back .. maybe next time.

Cheers guys,

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
