Also, can everyone get back to what the real reason is......

Its got nothing to do with trophy hunting - got nothing to do with budgets, etc - got nothing to do with anyone personal (although alot of you are making it that way)

Its all about the rules being wrong - and getting them changed. I say wrong (and people can dispute that - I'm sure they will) - because CAMS changed them to exclude someone from always winning - and CAMS admit that.....

Now, if you dont think thats wrong - or you dont think that is discriminating - then keep having a go at Michele about her personally - and totally deflect the real reason - because you cant defend what you really know is right (the arguement of getting the rules changed)...as they say "the best form of defense is attack!!!" - lets attack the individual because thats easier than trying to formulate an argument against something you know is wrong....

Look, if the outcome is they break up supersprint into different types and categories, then thats fine - but as it stands - the only supersprint series is all inclusive of types - yet discriminates against who can be the outright winner....

Okay Okay,,,give it a rest. Harry's made his points,,,all good ones but I don't think he needs 3 Camberrians slamming him all day for the last 3 days.

It started out as a healthy discussion,,,now it's getting crazy.

Nismoman yes I love O/P G/P and I will miss her dearly. I broke in turn 1 a front control arm there last year flat out,,,so these day I'm backing off and going back a cog. The flip/flop is the one I love.

Neil.

I was car # 551 - S13 Silvia, I fixed the issue with my Championship entry as my form got misplaced at CAMS so I'll be included in the points!! I'd like to say it was my first proper go at Oran Park GP (I entered last year but only did warm up lap before slave cylinder failed!!) and I totally loved it!!!!

I think it is the best circuit in NSW, but I haven't driven Bathurst yet. I've driven Wakefield, Eastern Creek and Oran Park South Circuit a few times, but I think the GP circuit is totally awesome... awesome to the max!!!!

Does anyone else think it's a really awesome and challenging track? I found the only place my car wasn't sliding was down the straight! :ermm:

The tunnel, the bridge and the roller coaster corners!

Plus that turn 1 kink. Wow! Ultimate hero corner. Nearly as frightening as turn 1 at Eastern Creek. Do people back off or brake for it????

I was my first look at the GP circuit as well and you're right, its totally awesome. The kink takes a lot of nerve to get through at speed, especially when you sit low because you can't see where it's going until you're at the kink. Had a few heart stop/starts at that point but all worked out well in the end. I have never been to EC, so can't compare turn 1 yet.

You really need to get to the Bathurst Speed Weekend too and the BLCC are super super people.

Let me know if you need any help or info for these events.

Congrats to michele and neil for the times that u done on sunday and thanks to michele for leting me help out on the weekend aswell. As for all this stuff that everyone is talking about i think its crap how cams would change the rules to disconect to not let people gain points for running at these events and go for outright points. It is a cams event and therefor every class of cams should be able to compete.

there's also no class for production rally cars, no class for FIA S2000, no class for tarmac rally cars, no class for classic rally cars, no class for Group N... all valid CAMS classes. No historic sports and racing cars, historic specials, historic touring cars, or historic production sports cars either. Why? because this event is not for them. its for the classes defined as eligible vehicles in the events Supp Regs. it all seems rather obvious...

Harry,

All those classes DO fit and can gain outright points except the open wheelers and the sports race cars.

it all seems rather obvious... to those that aren't blinkered.

sorry, all that talk about proper CAMS classes seems to have blinkered me from the fact that NSW supersprints don't use ANY proper CAMS classes...

So if you think the rules were changed to stop someone winning all the time and CAMS have admitted to this, that’s fine with me...

Just like i have said before Super Lap has its own rules and stops cars from entering, They stopped the Group A R32 GTR cars from winning by adding weight to them to make the racing more competitive, They don’t let all cars race at Bathurst for the 12hour, it’s to keep the sport closer and give others a chance to win.

The Cams Superspirnts can make their own rules to suit most of the competitors running and gives people with modified road cars or basic level race cars a chance to win?

They can win their class - None of the type 5 cars are trying to get into anyone elses class. As I've said before, I wouldn't have a problem if they dropped Outright altogether. Just don't give a false Outright.

  • 1 month later...

Round 2 was run at O/park G/P this last Sunday in really crappy conditions. There were some interesting cars out there,,,R35 on 18's and semis,,,2 R32 GTR's,,,some silvia's and the datto brigade were well

represented.

I did my usual and took it easy in the 1st session,,,but when I pulled a 1.16.07 in the 2nd it was time to have a little go. A 1.15.62 was the result in the 3rd. I was as happy as a pig in shit,,,knowing we both have more in hand.

Then it started raining and while the track dried I went out on a sighter and pulled a 1.16.17 with a 1/4 of the end of the straight oiled up on the race line. That was the end of the day with another massive oil down and raining again.

Even better was stealing the class 5 record off Michele.:D:D

Go the R35,,,3rd is way cool.

You gonna have to work harder Michele.

Neil.

Yeah, Duncan (the R35 owner and driver) posted in the R35 forum section about the weekend...

1.7 seconds behind your beast is a phenomenal statement for the R35!!!

Well done Neil on that time, and very good to see the R35 pulling great times my old man has to pull his finger out now and make the PRB faster.

My day got worse every run with a 4WD light coming on and off then staying on, was not fun going over the dog leg thinking you have 4WD and not. made for some intresting saves trying to get a lap with out it playing up, as soon as the tyres were getting warm the light come on. ended up doing most laps in 2WD.

Will post up some pics soon....

great work Neil, 1.15 with a crappy little bike engine is moving pretty well, especially in those shithouse conditions.

great to see a couple of skylines racing too, and to see a Duncan compete without killing a motor

a bit sad though....the only entrant from the skyline club was in a radical, and the 3 skylines were entered under other clubs

I agree totally,,,SAU could get right into the points if I had some help.

Ha Ha 1298cc little bike engine is crappy is it mate,,,My good friend 1.15's are history. We have 1 more round on the G/P and if the weathers good I'm leaving O/P with the record forever.

The 2D record was held by Jason Wright in a WRX STI in 2007 at 1.18.77. GO Nissan.

Neil.

LOL at anyone wanting to run an open wheeler in a supersprint, I mean why would you? Competing with other open wheelers too hard or is this a gay NSW thing.

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
