Hello,

Just a post to let anyone interested know about the Proxes 4.

I was suggested to try these tyres so I bought a set, went from 225/45/18 and upgraded to 245/40/18, and have noticed a huge difference. I have noticed the feel through the steering is different. . . you can certainly feel the extra 4cm on the road.

Being new I tried a few hard and fast corners and was very impressed. . very impressed. . even better that my previous number 1 preferred tyre the Dunlop W10.

They are a good price for those that need a 97+ load indexed tyre, $270 each

Jules

I went the Kuhmo Ecsta KU31's, kind of a middle of the road tyre as i had planned to get 18's latter so didnt see the put in putting pricey tyres on the stock rims.

For the price $180 each (235/45/17) they grip really well, i have pushed the car hard a few times and they feel very good, intial bite isnt that flash but once your in there nice.

Got those on the rears at the moment, seem alright, definitely not as grippy as the Toyo Teo's I had before. But for the price, pretty good. Apparently they are rebadged Kumho's according to the tyre guy

I assume this are an upgrade to the Proxes 4??

Anyone running the R1R tyres? Any feedback to offer?

Yes the R1R are the next tyre up. . . . . I took the advice of the tyre guy and went the proxes 4, he said unless you are going to be driving hard a lot of the time the Proxes4 are actually better. Also the R1R will wear a lot quicker too...

Ahhhh but they look hell cool lol.. Thanks for the input though, if they are fast wearing and you drive hard it's probably not a good investment! lol

Toyo R1Rs are simply awesome!!, but quality costs a fair bit more :D

245/40/18=$360ea approx.

Well worth it though; when you have 320+rwkw driving through the rear wheels only :P

:(

Proxes 4 doesn't comes close, but traction is not a real big issue for 4wd :)

Stephen and Julius (and everyone else, for that matter), if you become SAU-NSW club members, you can have access to cheap Federal tyres. I've got the 595-SSs on my car and they are FANTASTIC!!!

I'm going to become a member really, just wait until I have the cash :ermm:

I need to become a member b4 the car goes into Unique for a general service, I want to save me some dosh.

I'll keep the Federal Tyres in mind when I do need replacements, who fits them?

The tyres are delivered to your door, so you can get whoever you want to fit them. I had mine fitted by Spin City Wheels in North Parramatta.

Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
