Still suprised at the fuel system....so it was definatly injectors maxing out (on 98pump) and not the fuel pressure dropping?

its about right, just shy of 800hp atw so its within coee of 900-950fly, but saying that it seems sard (multihole) 1000cc dont ACTUALLY flow thier advertised rates, after testing @ motec they are about 5-8% short.... even with a base pressure of 50-70psi.

yes this is the turbo kit off damn but rebuilt fully DAMN made 575rwkw on race fuel at autosalon at 30psi, (rest of this car is 10 times better than damn's setup, plenum, head, piping etc)

The ICE R33 GT-R is Leewah's car and its still around.

DAMN made 575 at Autosalon on race fuel i believe.

ICE closed a few years ago...Nigel started another shop which died in the ass. VB- is spot on with that one! And Gerald is travelling overseas.

yeah i believe ICE was him and another bloke (is that gerald?), he opened up racing line a few factories up the road on his own i think. something like that anyway.

sorry to whore the thread

So if its 10 x better, running quicker than 10.9 should be a doddle on radials.

Any idea of when its going to hit the track?

It made more power with 10psi less boost... :woot:

Trent, you have helped me many many times in the past, but you dont know me, we will meet soon, but I dont give a toss about dyno's, they are for tuning purposes, I'm sure you understand that better than me.

Nigels car was built to go fast, and it did. For a car to be 10 times better, it should run at least as quick.

For the record, Nigel's 10.9 was never done with his max power figure, traction prevented that, so power is not the only key to a fast car. Like its been stated, he eventually made 550rwkw. I think he also put down some good roundy - roundy times on various tracks.

Not having a go, just dont like the 10 x better statement seeing as the car has only been on a dyno ( I think)

See you soon.

im talking build quality (i did not build this car as posted previous so im not biased) nigels car was rough, i saw the car at the track days, at autosalon and its cover shoot for autosalon yes its tough but the build quality of this car is at LEAST 10 times better.... again a credit to its owner and builder.

Ice Performance was made up of myself, Gerald and Nigel. Gerald and Nigel ran the day to day business while I was a silent partner who provided a base car for them to work on and display some workmanship. Nigel then purchased the Supra and rebuilt it ground up to what people knew as the "Damn" Supra. Damn was the first RWD Supra in the country to break the 10 sec barrier when it ran a 10.91@129MPH on Nitto 275s at Heathcote. That was pretty much straight after making 595rwkw at AutoSalon back in 05. The car was then detuned and made a few visits to Sandown where I believe it made a best time of 1:21.

My car ran a best of 10.47@133MPH when it was making 495rwkw but never cracked into the 9s when it ran a max power of 617rwkw because of traction issues on the Nitto 275s. According to HPI Magazine, I was the 4th fastest GTR in the country and the fastest street registered GTR in AU. We did eventually manage a best of 10.7@142MPH though which we were quite impressed in. Mind you, I was running stock R33 GTR suspension in the car so we couldn't really expect to have a record breaking car.

Ice Performance dissolved in 06 when Nigel then started Racingline Motorsport with Karl which later closed up in 07.

Carry on.

this is a clear example of how torque eats fuel...not power.

my old engine ran easily on the 700 SARD injectors...but once we re-did the set-up we ran out of injector at the same power level. But instead of a peaky torque curve it was dead flat and didn't drop away.

so with the same power output the engine that produces the most torque for longer will need more fuel.

Your GTR, willalls and bens R33 (racepace) were the most drooled over GTR's i can remmeber back in the day, definatley inspirations for all GTR owners. funnily eneough i think the damned supra and bens r33 were in the same issue of SPEED magazine years back.

Just in case anyone is chasing the above mentioned turbo famy its full name is TD06-SL2 20G . TD06SL2 is the turbine itself and is a Trust spec one so not really in the same vein as the garden variety TD05 or TD06 offerings . 20G is the compressor wheel in one of that families bigger trims .

Off the top of my head the GT Pumps site has pics of these turbines and compressors . They are available in normal and reverse rotation , Evo's 4-9 use RR Mitsy turbos .

Interesting claim: GTP6208, "This turbo is a direct replacment for a TRUST TD06SL2-20G but offers better spool!"

I would love to see a back to back comparison.....Trent buy one for a test, I'm sure Athid and I would be glad guinnea cops :D

For the record, those boys built 2 awesome cars for me

and did they take forever to build them for you? Did they promise every week that it would be done by the end of the week for over 5 months? Have you seen the piping work from DAMN and compared to what is on this supra? When you see the difference you will understand what Trent is talking about when he said the build quality is better! I'm still good mates with Gerald but i dont have the time or patience for someone like Nigel. I knew Leewah was a silent partner but i just didnt say it so publicly. You have your experiences which may be positive but my experiences are somewhat different. For the record, that build for me was quite ordinary. Well below the standards it shuld have been at considering the amount that was spent! But the past is the past and i have grown older and wiser. I do a lot more research now! I might even be taking my car to Trent to get a retune!

i know the ROC factory that supplys those guys, seen there turbos first hand in hong kong workshops on various trips home (lived there on and off for 15 years) and they are no differrent to hypergear / KKK / etc etc The early ones i played with all suffered failures over certain boost levels.... funny thing is for copies they are not all that cheaper than than the genuine jap trust items ( @99 yen)

Have you had a chance to throw the 8 cm housings on the 2J and tune it again?

Do the 6cm, 8cm and 10cm all bolt up to the same TD06SL2?

How would you expect a pair of 6cm ex housing TD06sL2's to go on a 2.8lt 26 as apposed to a pair of T618Z's???

That car will be a real handfull to drive on power.... lots and lots and lots of fun.

Cheers

Justin

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
