Sorry to post in here but DirtGarage can u clear your pm box (ive tried pm'ing you for last 3 days without any luck) as its full or alteast check your pm's regarding the money and pm i sent 10 days ago (14th april)

thanks mate

Brad,

Paul Ruzic tells me your controller has been sent...keep your eyes peeled for it as it should be there by now...if not today. I get him to send them direct to save double handling and as yours was an extra one that had to be assembled it took a little longer than usual.

PM's cleared.

I believe that if the car in question that ran the 8sec pass was running GT2540R turbos that they were would have been hi mounted as the older HKS 2540R was avaialble in a kit that hi mounted the turbos I believe. Can anyone confirm as I am not 100% sure. If this is infact true then Berry's and Pauls records would still stand.

Just seems odd to me that there would be such little knowlage about this car as HKS would definatley want to take credit for this achievment. As we all know most records set by GTR's are usually very well documented. Dirt stick the low mounts back on and give it another crack mate. Would bwe great to see just how far the low mounts could be pushed in a set up maximised for the drag strip.

If this can be confirmed id be in for another crack....the car set-up alone would be far more superior now with 'proper' drag suspension and the dogbox. Its still a heavy car so a bit of weight out of it with all the other additions should see the Berry time fall. Holding the car in 3rd gear from just over 1/2 track to finish to keep the car from exceeding 140MPH is also not required now as we are fabricating a parachute set-up while the car is up here in QLD.

Just to note, the Veilside R32 GTR did the 0-300km in the 13 sec bracket.

as i was reading thru this thread its another car that came to mind which set a record a few yrs back (the gold beast) & he misses 3rd gear if u have seen the clip!

Where do you draw the line ? the HKS drag 33 had its 3540's in low mount guise and was running 7's does that make it the fastest lowmount car? What about RIPS NZ they lowmount big turbos aswell do they count? As for records being well documented that is just not true there are actually a few 7 sec GTR's that not many know about like the Duke 33 and a couple of private cars.

What?

in saying low-mounts...maybe it should be bolt-on turbo's.

that is turbo's that are straight bolt on to factory manifolds dumps etc.

its just the term 'low-mounts' is more commonly used thats all

Nismo 400 R N1...i think you will find the HKS R33 had a bit of both (high and low)...ive been over this car top to bottom here's a couple of shots i took.

Im sure when ppl hear the term 'low mounts' we all think of bolt on's....

I know When i hear The term 'Low mounts' i think of bolt on turbo's regardless if its on the tomei manifolds, hks balancing manifold etc...Just as long as they COULD fit the standard manifolds i think classes them as a low mount candidate...

Paul thanks for those pics....Is it just me or is the front turbo's fans chipped? Or is it just the white mark coming off :) ???

they are badly chipped...japanese 'drag' air filters (read none) have this effect on compressor wheels.

i took quite a few photo's while i had access to the car...even took a few carbon panels off which revealed quite a few interesting things. The only thing they wouldn't permit me to do was fire it up, other than that it was open season.

Im sure i posted a thread on here...ill try and find a link for you.

Yep thats what i think aswell, in the setup before that HKS had the front turbo low mounted and the back one a bit higher, guess this current setup was better with the 1/4 times.

Its a shame they retired the car, Im happy for Reece and all, but this HKS car always epitomized the meaning of Drag GTR to me and always will, i hope they decide to sort out the chassis one day and bring her back out to terrorize the blacktop once again.

While we are at old pics Does anyone have the wallpaper size of the HKS 33 in front of the harbor bridge for the Drag combat event, i lost it when my old pc decided to quit on me

    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
