in NSW sprints GTRs are most often run in SV-D. sports sedan GTR would be 4D. hth. :P

but technically they can run in 1,2 or 3 as they were sold here by nissan. funny you can run a 32 GTR in 1,2 or 3 (depending on mods etc). but a GTST is SVD. S13 silvia = SV. S14 silvia? 1,2 or 3.

Yeah it's a little ridiculous!

There's definitely an advantage running an Australian delivered Nissan model and keeping it road registered as the freedom for modifications are greater.

Especially turbo models.

For example, type/class 3D - a road registered R32 GTR you can go to town on the mods, T51R turbo, Motec ECU, full house everything. Run 600+HP with semi slicks, coilovers, big brakes and take out the top prize.

Where as a track only unregistered R32 GTR needs to be CAMS log booked, and can enter type/class 3D if it complies with improved production rules, i.e. turbo restrictor.

End of the day, it's just a supersprint but some cars fit the rules better and have advantages over others.

Yeah my race car (3E circuit) fits into 2D supersprint rules because the model was aussie delivered and it is registered. I think it would cause a stir if I entered it though....

SV class is a particular hate of mine, if you look at many events 1/3-1/2 the entrants are in SV, all to protect the older/slower cars in the regular classes. its a joke.

Andrew the supersprint and hillclimb rules in NSW are specific to NSW, and are not on the interweb afaik. you need to call CAMS state office for a copy

yep, they used to try and force anything jap and quick to run in SV which is BS. as you suggest it's to protect all the old alfas, commodores etc that race in types 1, 2 and 3. and then you turn up in say a stock-ish S13 expecting to run in type 2 only to be put in SV with kit cars, purpose built race cars etc. stupid.

I say lets make a Jap only series. :)

Divide it up into different categories like:

Turbo AWD = GTRs, WRX's, EVO's, GTO's and the like

Turbo RWD = GTST's, Silvias, Supra

NA RWD = AE86, non turbo Skylines, Silvias

NA FWD = FTOs, Integras, Celica, Civics

etc...

There's plenty of cars out there to fit each category. It would be cool, no bloody Alfa's, MG's and Toranas!!!!

You could even go further and break up into engine capacity 1601-2000cc, 2001-3000cc

done! they call it superlap. they even ban cars that aren't made in jp like porsche or lotus to make sure gtrs or evos win :P

andrew....if you dont have factory turbos and intake you are not in 2d. if you dont run a restrictor you are in 4d.

I have factory turbos.... HKS are a factory? :D:huh:

What are you talking about, you nincompoop?

Trivia: Firefox does not consider "nincompoop" a typo. It's in the dictionary :P

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
