Just wondering what peoples experiences are?

Just got rear ended by a tosser in a vy, do they let you choose your repairer, if so does anyone know someone around the frankston area who will fix some peeling clear for cash there way, pm me if you do.

Sorry to hear bout the accident man. Must be cut. As far as Just Car goes i think they only let you use your choice of repairer if the quote u get is cheaper than they get from their choice of repairers

Interesting. When I got hit I had it towed to a repairer I chose, they submitted a quote to Just Cars, the inspector came out and okayed it. I didn't need to take it anywhere else.

This was in '05 though.

I think they let you choose, provided their preference is too far away.

Other than that, they're pretty good - i got wiped out by a guy with no insurance, and when he refused to sign anything official saying he was uninsured, they were cool about it. I think they called him and got (tricked) him into admitting he was uninsured. But the bottom line is, they looked after me, and that jerk possibly has no house now.

Any else have to pay the excess up front, they didnt mention it when i called them today.

They said i have to get 2 quotes and atleast 1 of them has to be from there approved repairer, the two they gave me were seaford panels and frankston accident repair centre, i have heard good things about seaford panels any body had any work done at the other?

if you got full comp, and someone went up your arse, wont they be chasing him up for the money for you?

You only pay an excess when you're at fault, or when you can't identify the party at fault...

sweet, she said that it would be listed as "not at fault" so its all good then.

^^^ as per dezz's post, but companies like AAMI make sure you get a letter of the 3rd party advising in writing that they do not have insurance at the time.

Once done your car gets fixed, your rating won't be touched, but you have the joy of telling each new potential insurer about your "not at fault accident"

i was hit when i had my 33 last year and was insured with just cars. as llama_au my car was sent directly to my panel shop. the submitted a quote and the car was fixed a week after the incident. so was very happy.

Ok, from my experiences only a few months ago..

The insurance company will ask for a quote from a set of repairers, most insurance company's used VACC Approved Repairers so if the person who you plan on doing the work is approved then they can just send there quote to the insurance company and its easy done.

For my circumstance where i wanted to take it elsewhere that wasnt approved to the insurance company i told them i would prefer to get it fixed at my own repairer so they paid me out into my bank account then i took the car to DT Panels :P

been insured with just car for 6 yrs now and had good experience in accident situations but not when my 34 got stolen, gave me bit of hell for 6 weeks b4 they paid out. had 2 cars written off by them b4 hand, was a 33 and an 80 model scorpion.

but other than that, good experience

we get a quote from a repairer of our choice and one from your own if you want to...

we dont base the decision on the cheapest repairer

as someone said above sometimes if your repairer is closer and easier to get to we'll just send out an assessor to check your car and book it in ur repairer...but it all depends on the situation no home jobs :D

and we do deal with VACC repairers

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
