Supercharging R34 Skyline

Recommended Posts

i would so have sold the 34 and bought a gtr with the money u wanna spend on ur sc kit.

massive waste of cash imo

but hay each to there own i guess

Um, then doing any mods to a car is a waste of cash, your logic fails.

I'm in the process of doing a VQ30DETT into my R34...waste of cash? I don't think so.

no, that isnt the logic. the logic is spending the amount in question for a result which seems a little fanciful, is a waste of cash.

is your vq30dett costing you 30k? what sort of power do you think you'll be pushing once complete?

The VQ is costing me less than half of $30,000, from start to finish.

Power? around 500HP With a lovely torque figure.

It's all about being different. Would i put a VQ30 into my R34 if it was going to cost 30k? Yup.

if you want a supercharged skyline, throw an ls2 in there and charge that... wont cost 30k, will be 400rwkw

Or even better, get your hands on an LSX from GM. 7.5L, 620HP, 800nm, and factory warranty too.

I dunno if you're aware, but Nissan stroked the RB engine to 2.6L and added two turbos to it about 20 years ago.

AFAIK stroking an N/A to 2.7L and adding a supercharger to it is the most f**ked up thing I've heard. And doing it to be different just reeks of someone trying to be a hero. So please, don't be the kettle that calls the pot black.

Supercharging your car to be different.??

Get some attention for doing something worthwhile to your Skyline, most people would love to be able to spend that amount on their Skyline, not waste it on unpractical ideas.

There is a reason you don't see any S/C lines around and believe me its not JUST a money issue.

As for 700hp+ Good luck, think you might need even more of that endless cash pit

Why do you need that much hp, surely if you were after power you would not go down the path you have??

What exactly are you trying to achieve??

If you wanna S/C to be different do it in a RR not RB

MISSR34, can i ask where you got this figure of 500rwkw from? seen a few V8 commodores with that charger or similar, keping in mind they roughly double the capacity (or more) than the motor your building, and i havent seen any of them make 500rkw.... that said i havent been actively looking for results

guys alot of you are missing the point with Cara, she is trying to do something different. Obviously doesnt care about the cash but wants something unique. Good luck to her and the SC is what i say.

There is no point to be missed. She is missing the point that she is wasting her money! But she doesn't care and doesn't want to take on advice from people. I bet her 3 'friends' that are giving her the thumbs up will be more than willing to take all her cash!

I am sure there is a fine line with being unique and throwing your money away.

If it was that beneficial then everyone would have done it a long time ago.

i have all faith in the 3 people that are the main "boys" of my build, my tuner, my engine builder, and the dude im getting the supercharger off of. all 3 actaully know each other too which is a bonus, and all 3 have said i will make the power with no issues. :D
i guess it also comes down to what has been done to the engine aswell. im going all out! im storking to 2.7L ive got custom cams being made to suit the supercharger to help with max performance levels as well. the entire engine is being built around the specs of the T Trim and what is going to help make the most power it can.

i have all faith in my 3 main boys that they will get her at about 500 rwkw.....

I think they all saw you coming and its no coincidence that they're all encouraging this bullshit fantasy build at your expense. Misplaced faith I'd say.

500rwkw is a lot of power. That is bleeding edge stuff, similar to what some of the best big single turbo, race engine RB26s do.

I think you'll find that its not going to happen for $30k either. Had any thoughts about the gearbox, diff, driveshafts, brakes, wheels and rubber you'll need to contain that 500rwkw?

Cams and 200cc aren't actually going to make an enormous difference.

Ok so lets just say that "hyperthiticly" I'm considering supercharging my r34 skyline as im on my p's,will a sc14 supercharger make enough difference to bother with and would it be hard to hide,I'd plan on setting up a hiden on/off button so i can use it when im on the track and then turn it of for daily driving :D

What will i need? other then the supercharger and do i need to add anything, would i be able to do it myself without any hasel's?

My advice, wait until the school holidays are over and then concentrate hard between 9am and 3pm. "hyperthiticly" you will make much more progress in life by learning to spell than you will by trying to illegally modify your car, well concealed or not you are guaranteed to have "hasels" with the police.

Bingo.

Cara you sound exactly like my g/f stubborn as all hell and wont listen to reason. You have a plethora of people telling u this wont work with experience and examples to back it up and your not listening to rational reason. Why would all these people be bullshitting on you? Do u think jealosy is an issue when people are straight up mocking you for this idea?

Best of luck I say, not with the car but with life in general with your attitude. No offence.

alrighty

i showed this thread to a friend of mine last night. he works at sabaddin automotive and before that at the original rank rotary he has many years experience working with serious hi performance car and has built many 500+ hp cars.

he said ur a dreamer (amongst other things) and said ur pretty much getting ripped off. u would need to more than double ur budget to get to anywhere near ur goals. and ur using the wrong motor for it.

and to the op ur a dumb flamin mongrel seriously

What sort of performance advantage, track times or purpose are you selecting the 750hp supercharger setup for?

    • Go to SP mufflers and get the muffler of size you want and make a nice mid muffler. It's about that simple! I have 2x 3.5 Magnaflow straight through Mufflers and while it's pretty loud with the Varex open, it's quiet enough with the Varex closed. You can also buy off the shelf Magnaflow straight through mufflers as well. You also have a turbo to quiet the car down too. Don't overthink it. Buy my extra Magnaflow muffler sitting on a shelf doing nothing (buy it new, ignore this part)
    • Centre-offset muffler under the floor, same as stock. Just....3.5". The change from straight pipe there to centre-offset will mean that you need to remake some of the pipe (add a bend or two).
    • Hey guys. So my R34 GTT has a custom 3.5” exhaust (done by previous owner) with a high flowing cat, and then just a Varex cannon muffler on the back. The car does drone alot and is really loud even on highway driving just cruising, as you can imagine due to the Varex muffler basically being a straight through with the valve open. As much as i love a loud RB, it can be a bit much with no other muffling in line and just driving casually. I wanted to lower the volume output on the exhaust a bit, as well as remove the drone (probably a way to do both at once), and was going to do it all myself as I am a fabricator and have done exhaust work in the past, so the fab work isnt my issue, im just not sure on the right product or type of product to use to get the job done, and i doubt an exhaust shop would be wanting to help me as they wont be making any money from helping me, unless they supplied the product? Anyway any help or guidance in best way to approach this would be awesome   Thanks in advance
    • Meh, whilst the Honda is a "really" good car and has potential if you want to drop coin on, it was uninspiring for me to look at, but, it did serve its purpose and is now in the boys hands, his happy, his girl is happy, as she wasn't to keen on the noisy old Patrol, and most importantly, the Minister for War and Finances is extremely happy that her "little baby boy" (6'2 nugget who is currently training to be a copper, which will make 3 coppers in the immediate "circle of trust") has a well sorted reliable car that doesn't guzzle diesel Me, I'm more than happy with the NC MX5 that I replaced it with, it's a fun little car that I like looking at, like driving, and yes..... I do like the fact that the maintenance and modifications that I have done/will do are plentiful and relatively cheap, well........ while staying naturally aspirated slow that is, and that's all I really need for a fun little daily, I can rev the 5hit out of it rowing through the gears and never really break the speed limit  In saying that wicked word, "modifications", I've already ordered something for some noise and an additional "3 ish" horse powers, or whatever it gives, in the form of a header, and, a new set of "cheapo" BC coilovers that are already sitting in the shed waiting to get put in, I had the same BC's in my old NB and found they were fine for the street, hwy, and the occasional track days I did in it, they have 6kg front and 4kg rear springs which is about 10% stiffer than the stock springs which I found worked well for their price  I've also already been in touch with MX5 Mania in Dural, so once the header is on it will get a ECUTek RaceROM tune there (I cannot rev match for 5hit, and I loved the RaceROM rev match and FFS in my old 86 "RIP") In other, maintenance news, I put some new sparkler plugs in it, and have a new set of DBA Street series pads to put in over the next day or so, I'm running the DBA street series in the SS and Honda and really like them, they work great and are not dusty at all I've also booked in a few days leave over this weekend to give me 4 days weekend do some paint correction and give the leather seats some conditioning and interior some Bissell and steam cleaning OCD lovin', the carpet and interior looks clean, but from my experience with the Bissell IRT carpet, and the steam cleaner IRT trim, looks can be deceiving I've also found that finding a detachable hard top is proving problematic, the main reason why I didn't like the NC initially was the power retractable hard top that I seen them with gave the roof line a weird look, the detachable roof though looks good, and is a same shape as a NA/NB hard top, similar, but unfortunately not the same as it has different fixture point on the front, so fitting a easy to get NA/NB detachable hard top is no bueno New Old cars are fun, cleaning, hunting and playing around brings much joy How are your beasties going? Do you still have the Skyline with the LS???, or Barra??? that you were playing with
