bloody rip off ... you can buy a random orbiter and some heavy cut polish, wet sand the lenses a bit with a fine sandpaper (4000 grit or so) ... Same result in < 1 hour and you will have a RO to keep and some money left over as well. Maybe I'm just mad cause mine are f*ked from the inside :(

looks nice man, so that set u back 70 per light? they didnt do the inside? i only have 1 light with the yellow ting problem... hmmm considering these guys...

how long did it take em?

I did pretty much the same thing by hand with PlastX but it really doesn't last long (maybe I just have a weak arm :( . I thought my problem was coming from the inside too (because of the visable cracks) but after the outside was done properly it is safe to say the problem was from the outside.

It would be interesting if someone did have a ballpark figure for what it costs in getting thew inside done though!

Hey there,

Maybe pm Steve, as he ran a Group Buy for Headlight reconditioning a while back.

He might have some contact to get the headlights done inside and out.

Yeah i've read that thread previously, but at the end he says "Please dont PM me asking if this can still be done, if it could be the GB would still be open"

So i assumed that the business that was doing the work was no longer interested... :huh:

These guys quoted me something like $160 dollars each to pull appart the headlight and buff the inside and outside.

Wasnt realy an option for me as i like on the coast and getting there was a pain. But if someone wants to give them a go and let the rest of us know would be good

my r33 had the same problem,headlights were a very dull yellow colour, i used a glassylite kit on them and they now look great. Took me about an hour all up but it was worth it. After you have cleaned them up there is a coating that goes on over the top to keep them looking nice and clear for a longer period of time...hopefully i wont have to do it again for a while,also noticed a huge difference when driving at night. :P

you can get it from ebay turbo piston.

just put a cloth or masking tape over the frontbar below the headlight to protect it.

img onna have a crack at glasslyte. its only $30~ so see how that goes, plastiX didnt do that good of a job

i've also purchased a cutting & polishing mit for my orbital, just used normal car polish and plastiX but didnt do much, perhaps i need polish cut wax?

eug, is that $25 per light or for both?

is it guaranteed to last or will it yellow in few months time? (do you put some sort of protective layer on it).

im pretty sure mines on the inside but id like to be proven wrong and cant go wrong for $25

Just looked into it, I can get it from Amazon. Do you just need the one kit? Is it possible that it can damage your paint on the front bumper if you miss?

i got mine from ebay for a little over $30...i used masking tape around the light so i didnt scratch any paintwork

      Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree.       My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.

      Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno

      Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.

      BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
