Hi all,

Currently trying to get the oil filter of cheff stageas wags for him and it seems as if theirs a bracked or something on the side/next to it that stops it from comming loose?

Is this correct if so whats the go with removing it to change the oilfilter?

Its a stock setup no filter relocation kit or anything :(

Fast replys would be good

Cheers,

Chris

Sounds like the oil pressure switch is in the way? With rb26's you pretty much need to attack the oil filter from underneath with a oil filter wrench or another type of oil filter remover, normal oil filter removers you would normally use on a commodore just aren't very effective.

How? The transfer case or front diff is below the oil filter on RB26's, there is nearly no room to go in there from underneath.

I had several people attempt to remove my oil filter, tried a few oil filter wrenches and removal tools, eventually a very strong mechanic just put his hand in there and was able to remove it >_<

Hopefully your one hasn't been done up super tight...

last two I have removed, it was a long screwdriver, through one side out the other and use that to get it started..

made a hell of a mess.. almost thought i had broken my hand trying to get the bastard undone..

next time will be the last, relocation kit incoming.

to undo it properly you need the three pointed claw type attachment that grips onto the end of the filter.

I do mine all the time - pop on some rubber gloves for non slip grip and remove it; also stops your hands gettin thrust against sharp objects in the engine bay lolz

try a filter like knn with a nut on the top so you can remove it with a ratchet next time.

If you have one of those stock Nissan/Pitwork filters on there then the screw driver trick won't work lol as it does stick out far enough, we tried a belt, to no evail, we also tried my very strong mate who couldn't get it off, we ended up getting a 1/2 inch drive oil filter wrench that combined with my strong mate was able to finally wind it off. the oil filter was half twisted around so it must have been on pretty tight. However there is a relocator in place now so i will have no more dramas like that

Did it come like that from Japan? I had a super small filter (not a Z143A, same thread about less than 1/2 the size, made it more challenging) and it had a metal exterior that got damaged by the time it was out....

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
