after reading this board for a while, obviosuly people are happy with gavin woods down the coast;

thats all well and good if you live down the coast or are prepared to drive down there every couple of months for a service, but im not;

where do people go in brissy for their servicing needs? i currently take my car to chapman and chapman. i have been reasonably happy with them, but a few small things have got my goat, and im wondering if i could be doing better elsewhere.

people have also recommended charlies to me, but i dont know anyone who has been there for a service;

where do you people take your liners in brissy to be looked after????

where should i avoid?? (if i go elsewhere from C & C)

Howed you go with Fast & Furious Zoix? i live about 5 minutes away from them, havent heard too many good things about them though

and the name is just a turn off for me, i mean do they have any creativity or what!

what did you get done there, and how much ?

ok i got spark plugs and service, got it for $270(including plugs)

they cleaned out the raditor, chagned the oils and used havoline, or something along the lines, also washed my car.

didnt have any problems, just I would like to look around more. and I live in that new estate in wakerley.

that sounds ok

contradictive of what ive heard, but they again, ive only heard, not seen

i need to get 100,000km FULL service done soon

ill be going to gavin woods ide say

couldnt possibly be any more props for a workshop, not that ive heard of anyway ;)

what sparks did you use? NGK platinums?

I dont think ive seen your car around hey, doubt youve seen mine, just bought it :D

havta get a brisneyland group happinin'

Hardcore racing? sounds good

but im still going to gavin first,

after seeing the amount of happy people who took their r33s there i just cant bring myself to go anywhere else!

Spooks: You have to sacrifice for cars like these mate, i sacrifice many things such as not driving all the time, parking outside, not going to places with big speedbumps etc

its all worth it though, the gratification you get from your 'baby' is like no other commonwhore, thats 4 sure!

i just got my major service at ultra-tune, taringa, and when i picked it up they openly admitted that they knew very little about the rb25 engine. I then hopped into to the car and started it and it was idleing at 500rpm then 100rpm and then 500rpm and so on. I then took the car for a drive and boost was maxing at around 1psi and under full throttle the car would splutter and i would lose all power. i took it back to them and they were clueless. they tried to tell me that it was because the ecu had reset itself when the battery was disconnected and the probelm would sort itself out in a couple of days. i called up 4doorz and we looked at the engine and the d**kheads haden't hooked up the lines to the carbon canister. we put them back on and the car is now running sweet. I would recommend that people take their skylines to places that genuinely know skylines and have the proper knowledge. I will definately be taking my car to Gavin Wood from know on as he seems to know his stuff, unlike other places around Brisbane that "reckon" they can do it.

man, i woudlnt even take my mirage to ultratune;

i did twice and both times they ****ed up;

first time at sunnybank, i asked them nicely to service the car and not place any stickers on my car (i hate stickers, they are tacky)

get the car back, reasonable service, two ultratune stickers on the car, are they stupid?

then went to ultratune at wooloongabba a few years later

got the car serviced, nothing obviosuly wrong, cept my exhaust fell off two days later and they didnt mention anything about it;

sure enough the service report had, exhaust checked;

exhaust checked my ass;

i wouldnt even dream of letting them near my skyline;

Gavin is a fabulous mecahnic who doesn't "blow his own horn" so to speak. That's why everytime someone says somethiing about servicing, I say Gavin. Best advertising is word of mouth. I was put onto Gavin Woods in March last year when I was searching around for a good mechanic. I found him and I haven't turned back.

As for people in Brisbane. I'm not really sure. I know Zero (old member off this site) recommended someone from the northside of brisbane in one of the threads. Just do a search in the qld forums for service. might take a while to find it, but you will. Just look for posts that Zero (or Zer0. can't remember) made.

I cant understand you guys ?You want to pay someone to replace your spark plugs and change your oil and filters???Its really not that hard nor does it need to be done by a performance shop.You will find that it costs cheeper in parts and you will learn something bout your cars if u guys have any questions about servicing your car message me i would be more than happy to answer them.

i love driving my car

i dont love fixing it

id rather pay someone who knows what they are doing and has the appropriate tools and know how

i can change the oil and plugs if need be, but i expect to get more than that from my mechanic (ie let me know if there are problems that i may not be aware of)

pretty disappointed with this thread;

no real good suggestions of other mechanics/work shops to try;

ok spooks , this is who i have used and this is the result.

chapman and chapman,used them for timing belt job went well and well priced ..My mate used them for a SERVICE and they stung him for that and they said he needed his power steering pump repaired cos it leaked.Charged him for a new pump and it stalled the car everytime it was on full lock.The car went basck 3 times before the problem it did not originally go in for was fixed.

Charlies- i snapped my exhaust cam and they did all the work the only problem i had was that i never really knew when the car was going to be ready as they were getting cars ready for jamboree which obviously take priority.Replaced head sonic cleaned injectors and new platnum plugs and mobil 1 oil and the thing is running like a dream cost of job $2700 so the work i was happy with and price not too bad but took their time in getting it done.But i had mates who have had dodgy work done there.

There is a place at tyngalpa called millenium motorsports they are meant to be good,guy owns it called carlos he is just starting out and is keen and affordable

One thing i have learnt from my travels.......No matter who the mechanic is if you go in there and sound like you dont know what your talking about 9/10 mechanics will look for an opportunity to sting you...especially when you come in and ask him to change your air filter and then ask him to tell you if there are any problems he can see developing,cos to me that means "this guy wants to spend more money no matter what it is".Wasnt trying to offend ya mate , just trying to save ya $$$$ .If thats not an issue then any mechanic i have mentioned will be able to help you out.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
