Damo_R34
An in-depth look http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/articletype/articleview/articleid/2279/86-under-the-skin-technical-details-on-the-toyotasubaruscion-86gt-86fr-sbrz.aspx Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada was quoted saying “There is a Toyota standard for designing new cars. This standard was to a large extent ignored. Why did we do this? There are cars that are accepted by a lot of people. Practical cars that are easy to drive and that do not break easily. These are standard Toyota cars. The 86 is not a car like that. We had to change our design approach for this car. We may have to do this again for other cars. It is impossible to develop a sports car that appeals to everybody. If you try to please everybody, the car would be half-baked for everybody, and not particularly good for anybody. This car is not developed by a committee, or by consensus.” That strut brace looks like they pulled it off a kids backyard play set! scandyflick
If Nissan had concrete plans to sell a small, affordable, light weight, RWD sports car, I have no doubt we'd be talking about that... ... Damo_R34
what do you expect to get out of a 2.0L N/A boxer? The car is aimed primarily at handling and efficiency rather than all out power. Put a big heavy turbo engine in and say cya later to the low centre of gravity and hello to $50k + price Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/272454-need-your-daily-fix-of-awesome/page/86/#findComment-6142501 Share on other sites
Damo_R34
In just a short few days, the GReddy team secretly developed a prototype Type-S coil-over suspension, big brake kit, and a Spectrum Elite SE exhaust system for the FR-S. The team also installed high performance 19" Volk Racing G12 wheels, Hankook V12 tires and a custom "F-Sport" inspired black and blue interior. http://greddy-usa.blogspot.com/2011/12/1st-modified-scion-fr-s-is-greddy-tuned.html Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/272454-need-your-daily-fix-of-awesome/page/86/#findComment-6142864 Share on other sites
Jap_star
what do you expect to get out of a 2.0L N/A boxer? The car is aimed primarily at handling and efficiency rather than all out power. Put a big heavy turbo engine in and say cya later to the low centre of gravity and hello to $50k + price I think it didn't need a turbo. But I would have liked to see s2000 like power. 180ish kw at the motor would have been enough. But hey, with compression like that. Your probably be only an intake, exhaust, ecu and e85 away from it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/272454-need-your-daily-fix-of-awesome/page/86/#findComment-6142920 Share on other sites
