This whole thread seems like a big pisstake. If it is serious then +1 to everyone who said wake up and ride to work. Get fit and stay out of trouble/jail.

SA must be more lenient than here because if you drive while disqualified the cops will drag you out of the car and throw you in the paddy wagon for a night in Jail until you're seen by the magistrate. They won't even lock the car on the side of the road for you.

Think of the risk reward ratio man: risk - crash, injury, lifelong debts, permanent black mark on record, pulled over for anything and jail, loss of job. Reward: drive to work listening to bad FM radio to keep working in a job for $200/day and paying off the house.

Push bike: no risk of any of the above, maybe risk a cold from riding in winter.

And shift work is bollocks for no options. Where do you live? There's bus, taxi, train, tram, begged rides, family, push bike scooter, the list goes on. You've already said the missus will give you alift some days, how about putting together some options for the others. You drive disqualified you may not keep the missus and you get caught you won't keep the job.

hmmm i thought it would be pretty strict down here...

yeh i got f**ked over big time....driving down port wakefield road, cop pulled me over sayin i was doin 107 in a 60.

port wakefield isnt even a 60km speed limit...so god knows why i got pulled over...but yeh...

so even for a first offence its jail time?

wasnt when they were doing the road works on there?

As stated elsewhere in this fred, get a pushbike, leave heaps early, deal with it and move on. And no, I dont care that you live 30 minutes drive from work, thats still push bike-able.

on that note, pretty sure as a P-plater it is a breach of P's to go over 100kmh by any amount, not that I care or know if who ever posted that initially is a P plater.

hate repeating myself but i wasnt speeding...i was going 70..

cop obviously didnt re-calibrate his gun, said i was doing 107, this was while in heavy traffic

did my topic say "help i need sympathy" nope......

thanks for the mature and reasonable responses on here though everyone...

its evident id be a dick to drive unlicensed..

im cancelling the house im building anyways and cuttin my shifts down..

just annoying that u drive sensibly, get f**ked over, and have to sacrifice things in order to obey the consequences of the law.

welcome to the sa police

public transport isnt possible....i work 4pm til 1230am

25minute walk to nearest bus stop, 20min bus ride to train station, 25min train ride, 30min walk to work...thats gettin to work..

getting home, theres no trains after 10 30 down my way. and if anyone here knows what the northern suburbs are like u dont want to be goin through there at 230 in the morning...haha

p.s missus wont leave, shes driving the skyline

thanks for the responses everyone..hopefully my replies havnt come across as being rude..

ive tried to keep my frustration in.

im not a hoon driver or anything like that, my last car was a twin turbo supra and i sold it and bought a non turbo auto r33..

so i can be more careful on the road, but to lose your license while driving sensibly and obeying the road rules

is pretty f**kin annoying.

me and my missus would be movin into our house on the lake in 3months but to have to rearrange our lives to compensate my license loss means weve lost the house..

but, ive put a for sale sign on the car, havin it around would tempt me too much to drive so its gotta go

11more months to go of headaches, public transport, taxis, buses, and days off work to go :(

hopefully in 11months the p platers in the sociey who drive like dickheads wouldve stopped, leaving there to be no reason for the cops to follow us, pull us over, and catagorise us as "all hoon drivers"

see ya on the road :)

i lay odds you're NOT kidding!

That sucks mate, Im a P plater and its seriously annoying me how there seems to be a fair few accidents going on involving us. Just read the whole story myself, cant believe the hard luck you've had, but it could be a chance to come back better once its all over.

haha nah im not kidding at all just thought id write that i am to keep it PG 13 so i dont get banned

yeh ive had my car for a year, i dont race ppl, dont drift, nothing at all..but i get pulled over twice a week

because i had a p plate up therefore i was stereotyped to have done something wreckless..

but ur right, something goods gotta come out of it.....x lotto would be nice haha

you look like a dude i used to work with. which is funny cause he drives a non turbo 33 too (or at least, he did, when i had the celsior)... wait... you got a brother?

yeh twin bro....im gunna take a guess...dave courts? from kmart?

A friend of mine lost his licence for 12mths months for speeding,

He took his slightly younger brothers birth cert to transport SA and said 'lost my wallet' got a photo taken and licence send out a week later,

Bought an inconspicuous cheap litttle white 90's model corolla,

100% Stuck to the speed limit and only flashed the licence at bretho's etc.

Drove for the whole year no worries at all.

fk public transport!

    • Good tips, will get on those tomorrow. When doing the maintenance I did move a few of those connectors around, and things that are old tend to not like moving around. (Like me).
    • Don't try it. It will be shit. Better chance of damaging the engine than gaining any knowledge about the old one. Maybe, but unlikely, especially if the O2 sensor is working. You can use NissDataScan to look at the stock ECU.   Cleaning the AFM is seldom necessary and seldom helps. The R35 coil & loom conversion should eliminate dud coils or plugs. But as you still have misses - look to the plug where the coil loom connects to the engine loom, and the CAS plug. Need quality connections there. Also look to injector plugs. And the AFM plug while you're at it. Also look to whether your injectors are clean and flowing evenly. Get them out and onto a testbench.
    • Good to know, I feel like I am in for a rollercoaster ride that looks like a sine wave.
    • You'll fit right in. Acceptance is the first step.
    • Hey folks. I've been lurking and browsing the forum for a while, since I got into my head that I wanted a skyline. Having purchased an overpriced completely stock GTT, (only "mods" it has is HKS pod filter and catback) now that it became legal in the US, it was all glorious and sututu noises here and there. But then I wanted to do things right and went to do basic maintenance. After all the fluids, filters done, I did the spark plugs, that's when the problems started.. First the car started spluttering at around 4.5k RPM. Which I gapped down the new plugs and that solved the sputter there, but the car now always misfires at idle with pops when lifting off and shifting 2nd to 3rd. Similar to the issues in this recent thread. I've been banging my head against the wall, reading the threads here and trying suggestions for a couple months now, so decided to start this one to explain exactly what I tried and what is going on. The symptoms of the issue: Idle and low revs misfiring intermittently. You can hear the exhaust tone change and the shakes on the shifter knob. It happens frequently, but doesn't seem to have a rhythm to it. Pops when backing off throttle. It pops and or burbles almost feels like it spits fire when it pops. (Happens mostly in 3rd gear at around 2k RPM). When under load and after 6k RPM, it also pops when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. There's a ticking noise at around 2k RPM in 2nd gear going downhill, seems unrelated though but I am out of educated and downright dumb guesses. Not noticeable lack of power when putting the car into load. The attempted diagnosis and solutions: Unplugging coils when the car is running This did nothing to change the idling and tone shift for every cylinder. Checking the exhaust headers with thermometer They all are within what I'd say it is margin of error of the laser thermometer New spark plugs Tossed two new sets, copper, iridium and using the old ones, still misfiring, even re gapped to 0.8mm, still same thing. MAF cleaned with the "specific" spray cleaner No changes in the issues what so ever. Brand new loom and r35 coil conversion (was going to add the r35 coils anyway) car runs arguably better, still misfires, but seems like does less frequently. Placebo? Code 21 now being thrown, thanks nissan gods. Removed the CAS to check the shaft for play or anything. CAS seems all fine, nothing that indicates any issue, visually speaking. Things to attempted next: Ordered a new MAF (chinesium from Amazon, to be able to return regardless of result). Fuel with proper gas, maybe it is this California water that they sell as gas that is to blame? Plugin the link ECU and check the info using the built in base map. Go back to BMW and eat my rob bearing breakfast without milky oil mixture.   Do any of you have experienced anything like this or have any suggestion?
