well it seems that the actual reasons have been due to having to upgrade the game to run on the more secure 3.50 firmware (forced to do so by sony) and then they took a bit longer than expected to do so and missed the start of the production window by 3 days.

Like I said it is manufacturing issues. I had it confirmed today.

The problem arose when SCE mandated SDK 350 on all games releasing after after October, GT5 was about to go gold running on SDK 341, but it has been delayed by around a week so that they can update to SDK 350. This has caused a big headache for the manufacturing side, given how big this game is missing the gold date by even a week can cause a months worth of delay as slots are already taken up at this time of year for Blu-ray movies and such. So Sony had to find a 3 week slot big enough to make 7m+ copies of this and get them shipped out.

If you want to blame anyone, I would direct it at the pirates and hackers, SCE never had any real SDK restrictions before firmware 3.41 was compromised.

[Kazunori Yamauchi's] reply was that the game was only three days late from their side, and that Sony has to decide what that means for the release.

Went in to see my mate at harvey norman today. told him about gt5 being delayed. he hadn't heard tey. he went and asked the big boss who confirmed it and also said that his money was on it not making it to shelves till january. don't think he has any inside knowledge, think that's just his guess. lets hope he's not right

I had not read this fkn delay bullshit 2 days ago when I bought a new G27 and spent a day building a stand to suit. fk! well its ready to go for 2012 when they finally do release this f**king game... I cant type my rage.

anywayz... pics of the the final product (not finished... needs paint but will probably be tinkered with and upgraded as things break/need strengthening)...

Looks good man. if i could make a suggestion though, i'd put some sort of brace on the uprights to stop there being any chance of the top bit sliding dropping down. you could just have them so they hold it at the right height and swing up out of the way

yep that was on the original plan... and might be included later. At the moment the lock nuts + washers on both sides and in the middle do hold very well. but also when the wheel is sitting at a good height, the bottom of the top section is near resting on your knee's anyway... so might attempt to include a padded area under there to suit.

Being adjustable at both the bottom and top (plus the peddles can be set in 4 different spots securely and shifter swivels to suit) its pretty adaptable to different seating styles... tho so far it feels pretty awesome on the lounge

if you put the legs on like i suggested you could always just drill some holes in the base and have a small dowel that acts like a stopper that you can just pull out and move into a different hole to adjust the height. it would also mean that you can leave the bolts in the legs loose enough that if you want to hop up off the couch you can just lift the wheel up a bit and get up, then when you sit back down it will go back to the exact same spot.

fcking cnts. so pissed off. was finally letting myself get just a tiny bit excited that this game is coming out in a couple of weeks time. come on here and what do I find? another fking delay and this one just weeks from the supposedly final release date. absolute knts.

Not sure if you've seen it yet. But EB have a cover for the PS3

i saw it on gtplanet a few weeks back. didn't think it was worth mentioning, lol. for the $50 or however much it is i don't think it's worth. hell i can barely see my ps3 where it sits, so putting that cover on it wouldn't do much for me. and i never take my ps3 anywhere, so it's not going to impress any of my mates, and most of them would have the same reaction i would to anyone who bought one: "you paid how much for a piece of plastic?"

also amazon and i think gamestop in the US have stopped taking pre-orders for the signature or collectors edition (whichever comes with the model car) as they are saying it's sold out. not sure if it's just the amount they ordered that is, or the actual game. some other places are still taking pre-orders though, so it could just be that they haven't been told it's sold out, still have stock left from their order, or simply haven't updated their site.

on an positive note, anyone going to the sydney motor show will get to see gt5. toyota is holding a 24 hr race of the Nurburgring starting tomoro. sadly though the teams have already been chosen.

I went to the motor show yesterday and saw the GT5 demo they had on but didn't try it since i couldn't be bothered waiting in line. They have 2 pods in the toyota section at the back where the new 86 is on either side. It was the usual demo of a few mins for each person driving the new 86 (i think) on the rome circuit. Mostly saw people hitting walls though so i didn't stay long to watch.

In a knowing nod to those of us anxiously awaiting GT5’s new release date, Sony Australia has announced a new 3D TV / PlayStation 3 promotional bundle – which includes a copy of Gran Turismo 5 – with “guaranteed delivery by Christmas”.

Here’s how it works: buy a new Bravia 3D TV, be one of the first 21,000 people to submit your proof of purchase to Sony, and you’ll have a new 160GB PS3, two pairs of 3D glasses, two 3D Blu-Ray movies, four PS3 game download vouchers, and one copy of Gran Turismo 5 delivered to your house before December 25th. If you’re an Australian in the market for a 3D television set, it sounds like a pretty good deal to me – get the details here.

Yes, Sony already told us GT5 would be here in time for the “holiday season” when they first announced its delay, but this should be reassuring to those of you who are understandably skeptical. I’d also like to reiterate that some of the retailer dates you’re seeing across the web and your local game store mean nothing – they’re simply placeholders to make customers feel comfortable pre-ordering the game with that particular store. When the real date is announced, it will be news to all of us.

    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
