I just got my car going after 3 weeks sitting in the car port and I know there is always a build up of rust etc, but I have never been impressed with the performance of the std brakes, tonight I was really struggling to get the ABS to kick in, in the wet and pushing dam hard. What are other peoples like. I Would have thought R33gtr brembos to be much better than what they have been. I have endless pads in them as well. Any thoughts??????? the pedal is not soft and spongy ist really quite the opposite, on light braking they feel good but firm braking they are no good.

i've got 33gtr brembos on my rs-v and i must say i'm very impressed with how well they work, particularly on such a large car. I don't think i could ever go back to driving a car without the brembo ABS combination now to be honest. so a little puzzled to think that you'd not be happy with them?

There could be so many possibilities, here's some.

1. Shitty old brake fluid will make the brakes feel crap, so I would change it if needed.

2. Seals on the calipers could be seized

3. Brake master cylinder seals could be rooted as well but it's not a very common problem.

4. Rotors, you could try using some emery paper to give the surface a rub down.

Yeah mine feel very strong, awesome pedal feel, has no problems pullng it up.

With kuhmo ku-31's (middle of the road) on dry roads i have to work it HARD to get the ABS on wet roads havnt really pushed that hard, with the old snow tyres wud get the ABS working hard just looking at the brakes ;) oh my god did they howl and squeal when i was bedding in the brakes

1. Change all of your brake fluid and put in some Motul Dot 5 (water in the system doesn't show up until too late!).

2. Get a brake cylinder stopper.

3. Braided stainless steel brake lines all round ( if you haven't already).

4. Decent brake pads.

his pads are decent.

i used them, i liked them for an every day pad, far superior to any bendix crap!

endless SSS with good rubber(bridgestone RE001) had my forehead hitting the dash!

endless SSS are awesome pads, best street level pad before you get into their track only based series. from memory rated in the 0-500deg range. think i'll buy some to go with these nice new slotted rotors i have here

    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
