It's not a quick / simple answer.

It will depend, amongst other things, on:

manufacturer

synthetic / semi-synth / mineral

hot / cold

viscosity specification.

And finally ... is the pressure sender behaving itself.

Hmmmm didnt really think about it that much, but u got a point!

I used Nulon Fully synth 10W-40

and once the car is warmed up:

at idle the pressure is at 2 (im assuming its 2 being between 0 and 4)

driving its a 4.

and never really looked at it while pushing it, i think i saw it at 6 once...

and was just wondering if that the case with most skylines???

yeah mine is about that, i use a fully snythetic aswell.

during a cold start it's quite high (probally 4-6 depending on how cold the outside air is).

This only lasts until the engine is warm and then i would idle at about 2 like yourself.

Driving the car it would go up to about 4 aswell and pushing it were talking bout 5-6.

Anyway hope that helps and you get some decent comparative results. All the best.

It's refreshing to see someone using an appropriate viscousity oil in their Skyline :P

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey guys sorry to steal this thread but i have a feeling that my oil pressure is abit to low.. Its a 32GTR with a fresh rebuild running mobil 1 oil. On the stock oil pressure gauge it reads 2 on start up then after driving a couple of mins and going 100kph in 5th it goes down to 0.9-1ish ...

To me it seems to low. Any idea's guys?

yep that's really low mate... have it checked on an external gauge to make sure its not the sender playing up... I would be going back to whoever did the rebuild and asking them why the pressure is so low... its just asking for bearing damage... usually too loose bearing clearance causes the low pressure so its a build problem... could be a pump issue but I doubt it... either way get it checked asap

sorry to steal this thread, with a defi gauge for oil pressure, how much should the oil pressure read when idling? Running Motul 300v. Mines reading above 6 when starting cold in the morning which i guess is normal? Low is bad but how high would be bad? Cheers!

And being an auto, sometimes after driving for about 15-20 mins to the shops, turned off the car for 5 mins and when i get back, simply turning the steering will bring the oil pressure to below 2 on the defi and there's this once when the car stall???? can anyone shed some lights on this?

May I ask where it leaked from ?

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
