hey guys i have a power fc in my s15 rb26 and ive recently taken the engine and gearbox out, the loom is still in the engine bay. and ive still got my battery hooked up so my alarm works, but when i turn my car to accessories to put my windows up my hand controller doesnt come on, is it because my loom isnt pluged in? or maybe a fuse or is my power fc rooted? it was fine before my engine come out

cheers

i have a sinking feeling it may be. although I don't think the PFC boots up on ACC only when the key is turned to ON.

I recently farked mine and the HC lights up but the screen doesn't come on and engine won't fire... d'oh!

yeah the FC boots up and the hand controller boots when ignition is turned to ON

usually if the FC is blown it will boot the hand controller (if it has power) and display blank or scrambled rubbish

open it up and smell for burnt stuff or check for burnt tracks

I got a question for you. On my Rb25 I have a Power fc with hand controller, when I first had it installed the hand controller would come up fine showing all the channels and information. now when I turn my car on it just shows the APexi PowerFC logo and just sits there. Likes it frozen .. no scrambling info - just the logo appears and just stays there. Any help ?

Not neccesarily

word. seen it happy many a time. fuses fine, PFC toast.

Power FCs are much more sensitive than standard ecu often with a weak ground or weak power supply stock ecu works fine, power fc doesn't. and same goes if you get a short circuit. often standard ecu fine, power FC not so fine. i have nfi why, but that's the way it is.

Hey Mate,

Recently bought a Power FC from a bloke who had his engine out as well - everything else was in the car. We tried to fire it up so I could see if it was working prior to purchase and it didn't work. Put it in my car and it worked fine...we concluded that the other end of the wiring loom needs to be connected to the engine for the Power FC to work...

I don't know if this is technically right, but it happended with me - hope it's the same with your situation as well.

Pete

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
