Oh wow this is bs.

Mainly the prices...

Have to admit, i don't believe in global warming the way it is advertised on the news etc.

So this new rule...This is the first i've heard about it. Something like this shouldnt be implemented without people knowing about it... or am i just naive?

it was introduced back in april, and i only just heard of it today, being a few weeks away from finishing my turbo build.

i think your correct in saying we should've had some notice...

cos what is the average sucker with an average commodore with a little exhaust gonna do when they get whacked with a potential $3700 test to pay for?

its pretty much outlawing car enthusiasts, IMO.

Brad, yeah i know, the police don't need a real reason to defect your car. But at the end of the day the police always have and always will abuse their powers. We just have to live with it i guess :iluvff:

Yes and no.

I am a firm believer that for police officers to be able to "Defect' a vehicle, they should have some training in that specific area. Know what to look for that IS dangerous. Measure cars ride heights etc....like in NEw Zealand. They jack up cars on the side of the road to check its safe....not just "i think ths is bad, here have a sticker and a nice day".

After all, they dont just give these cops a gun and a taser and say "if someone does something you think is wrong, point this at them and pull the trigger". Its all about the training IMHO

OK, this may be a little off topic but here is my synopsis on Global Warming. I agree it DOES occur and will occur again. HOWEVER, I believe that humans ARE NOT the cause of Global Warming.

Think of it this way. ~10,000 years ago there was an ice age (read the book A Short History of Planet Earth from a Melbourne University Professor). For that ice to melt there had to have been some sort of global warming right? 10,000 years ago humans may have been around, but they did not have industrial tools like we do today (ie, power plants, cars, engines, etc etc). THEREFORE, that proves the point that humans are NOT the cuase of Global Warming, however we are speeding up the process ever so slightly by pushing more and more carbon monoxide etc into the atmosphere!

Just some food for though :iluvff:

Brad, yes i do agree with what you are saying, but the reality is that a lot of the police officers know jack shit when it comes to defecting a vehicle. I was stickered for being too low - the police officer didnt measure my car but u could tell just by looking that i was damn low so fair enough....

But yes, it is all about the training....

Instead of wasting money on stupid things, it would be great if they inject the money back in to the police force for training for this sort of thing, and a lot more.

It would be win win for everyone i suspect.

BUT.....it wont get votes come election time.

"Training", unfortunately goes out the window when it meets "adrenalin dump" or in this instance "adrenalin rush" as the law discovers the power of "latest weapon' in the fight against crime on our streets. I do not like the look of this at all. Damn!

GW

PS: the only positive I can see in all this atmo is the queue at the testing station.

got it in one.

there needs to be a deviation from the common stereotype that says; nice car = dangerous driver.

cos its us car enthusiasts that are being treated unfairly, and its not the car enthusiasts who put the little white crosses on the sides of roads, its the dickheads who treat the road like a racetrack.

but unfortunately, the people who run the country aren't as smart as we all hope/think.

this is not the end of the world!

the main issue at the moment is lack of testing facilities

over east plenty of modified cars have passed this test and with many more people doing the test its much more economical

other shops are coming online later to be able to do this and I am sure many many others will look at doing it as time goes by including ourselves as dyno dynamics make it available with their setup

at the moment most cars are going over the pits with mild mods without this test at the inspectors discretion and they are not very happy about the current situation either so that is not likely to change immedietly

I had a half OK day today, but being reminded of this emmisions horse shit, and looking out the window at my Ceffy, suddenly I'm in a bad-f**king-mood.

In the other post about this emmisions crap, someone mentioned the equipment required to perform these tests cost upwards of $400'000.

I can bet nobody in Perth will be jumping on the bandwagon anytime soon.

Not the end of the world? no, but it is the end of 4-5 hours of my afternoons, as for alot people. I guess we can all sell our imports, by 3 cylinder hatchbacks and play Need For Speed in our spare time. Now that I actually think about that concept, I'd save soo much money it isnt funny.

I wonder if these polly assholes think about how their smear campaigns on motoring enthusiasts will actually make motoring enthusiasts extinct [YAY!] and reduce police revenue down by 75% and the DPIs revenue from yellow stickers and pit passes down by about 50% [oh noes :P ]

This is f**ked. It IS the end of nice cars.

The shit thing about this all is that THEY ARE CREATING JOBS.....

Some old dude with a bit of a cough and gone and blamed car emissions, oh goody...... sigh*

The Gov'mnt keep introducing laws without basic practices to see if they actually work first. It's a shambles run by wombles

This emissions stuff is in place in the UK and you pay more tax/registration if your car produces more CO2. To say that a car STRAIGHT UP FAILS this test is a stupid conclusion.

I do wish the Government would look to other nations for helpful tips on how to run a country. Seriously.

The UK thing with the emissions? That seems fair enough. Goto Europe to get your drivers license? Least you EARN it, it takes fricken forever and costs heaps but at least you know how to drive after it!

Really wish they would stop adding stupid laws. Sigh.

We're also several thousand years overdue for a swap of the poles, when that happens shit will really hit the fan.

There's a massive discussion on antilag on this exact subject, a couple of people on there that work/worked at Kosteckis and have commented also..

I am going over the pits soon with a twin > single turbo conversion and will see how i go. But from what i have heard first hand it's very much so under the discretion of the inspector as it is ultimately their decision.

Agreed there are dickheads that treat the road like a racetrack but there are others, the mobile phone users, the mothers that turn around to attend their baby/ young child in the back seat (lost count of the amount of times I've seen that one), heroes with arms hanging out of windows in the fully sick position etc etc that cause alot of accidents.

Most of the above cretins vote for the people that make these idiot laws due to the media driven frenzy on import drivers and I would bet that a fairly large percentage of them are a greater danger on the roads than import enthusiasts.

Would love to know what the kickback is worth to the pollies from the one and only test company

No it isnt ...

I'm with Dsturbd.

I'd lose my job if I got a yellow sticker and had to take time off work.

However I will continue to take the bus/train to work, then bring my car out on weekends.

Murdoch Traffic Enforcement have a new WRX hatch... doubt that would pass... idiots.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
