Ok, seeing as i'm moving up there soon, i thought i'd better start hassling you who might actually know the answer to my question:

What does a pretty nice R33 GTS-T go up for there in QLD? One with a few mods? one for example like this :D

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...&threadid=23241

I've done a bit of quick look around, and most seem to be about low 20's or so... Where else can i look to get a decent idea of prices?

See, my original plan was to sell off the 33 in melb due to the hassle of bringing it up, and people were telling me "imports are cheaper in QLD", blah, blah so i didn't lose too much money. But having a look around dunno whether that is actually true.

So if that is the case i'll just keep it, bring it up and enjoy it for a bit till i need to buy a house, mb stick a bigger turb on it, and generally cause mayhem... Watch out! :P

I live in brisbane qld

just brought my 94' series one for $19,000

youd be able to sell yours for easy $20-25, depending on how you went about it.

A colour photo in Unique cars and trading post will sell it quick.

You just need to seperate real customers with dreamers, im certain once they sat in it they would be hooked

Staying with a friend in Mermaid Beach for a couple of weeks, then probably Brisbane. Really depends where I can find work as to where i finally end up.

ok, thanx knore. As long as i can get low 20's then i will be happy, even a bit below... as i am sure once i'm up there i'll want to drive it around a lot :D too many cameras around melb these days to enjoy driving anymore :P

Yup, patience is the key. I'm in no real rush to sell it.. If i can sell it here, i sell it here, otherwise i keep it for a while and take it up. Had a couple of young guys look at it over the weekend and took them for a quick spin, but like you say, its all "woa, thats awesome", but no idea whether they really had the dosh. .

The range in general for a R33 seems to be $14,000 up to $40,000+

Generally though around the $20,000 $25,000 for a manual/turbo.

Going less than that either means your buying a high milage car or it's getting old (coming up to 5-10 years old)

Not really sure about mods etc, as it purely depends on just where you go and what sort of car is around, though if a car has mods then the prices just goes up.

I've been looking Around in general haven't asked about anything thou, but that's the range from the ads I've seen.

you might be better to just import a car, I think this can cut out some of the dealer costs and should get you some mods as well.

I ain't actually buying one, i already have a nice R33 thanx  (see the link up top)

Its forsale in melbourne, but if i don't sell it here i will keep it, bring it up there and enjoy the QLD roads.. drive it until i do need to sell it for a house or whatever.

Thanks for the feedback though, its given me a better idea of prices up there, etc.

A 1600k drive in the skyline will be an interesting trip though

i paid 15500 for a manual r33 gts-t m spec with exhaust and 18 inch wheels. It also has king springs and some jap brand suspension.car had 80k on the clock and is 1993 series 1.It is the car in the avtar.Went to heaps of car yards and they all wanted over 20.I told them i only wanted to spend 15 they laughed at me....So i then found this one in the trading post and went back and laughed at their stock overpriced and heavily armour alled crap.Having said this i did pick the car up cheap. But i would expect to pay 18-20 for a r33 WITH some mods.My mate picked up a custom nismo ble 1997 r33,full gtr kit full adjustable hks suspension, custom interior and hks twin exhaust. It is the best looking skyline i have seen he paid 24.hope it helps a bit

I moved from Vic to Qld about 15 months ago.

When I was in the market for an R33 I found that 33's in QLD where on average about 1-2k more than there counterparts in Vic.

Strange huh? I thought it would be the other way around.

But still, there seems to be plenty of bargains and plenty of rip offs when it comes to Skylines!

Why people would ever pay more than 22k for a stock R33, I dont know?

But obviously they do cause people advertise them at that price.

thanks nismoGirl.. i think that is the general consensus..

I really want to keep it for the roads up there from what i've experienced before. Last time i was up in GC/brissy area i had a 1L Daihatsu with no guys whatsoever, so as you can imagine it would be great if i could have something with a little more class for looking around and exploring the place.

All it really needs is a big ass turbo and a PowerFC.. and i should be able to push some 12's down the 1/4 :P So yer, bit of a waste considering its so close to that.

I paid more than that for my R33, but remember R33 went from 1993 to 1997 and thats like buying a VR vs a VT, lots of models and lots of years! My 96 has additional features std over the earlier 33 including Variable Cam Timing, Dual Airbags, ABS, larger spoiler, different front end styling, not to mention allot less Km's.

These things add up when buying a car, and I would expect to pay more for a lower mileage car with more features that is a few years newer.

And also, take a closer look at most skylines (pictures dont tell crap). My 96 had something like 2 tiny scratches, and the car is generally flawless. I have seen other R33's scratched to all buggerry. Too me a good clean car with low miles is a better alternative. Age and Km's shows everywhere, interior, steering wheel, suspension, seats etc etc.

I paid $29,000 for mine, but in addition to the above features it also had large intercooler, pod filter, HKS boost controller, Coil overs, 17's wheels, killer exhaust, greddy gauges, all of which I got rough quotes for to buy here, sees this list of extras being expensive, ie:

Coil over $4000

HKS Boost controler $1000

MAgs with tyres $3000

Gauges $2000

Intercooler $1000

Exhaust $3000 (ie hi flow cat, dump and s/steel all thru)

Thats a good $14000.

Why pay $20 for a stocky, when doing it up will owe you at least $35k, pay $29 for a done up one already. People pour lots of money into cars and rarely recoup those funds. So capitalise on someones elses losses.

Paul

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
