I was just wondering why M35 300RX Stags are not eligable for import into Australia? I thought the cutoff for a specialist performance import was 105Kw / Ton ?

Skyline 300GT = 128.2Kw / Ton

Skyline 350GT-8 = 129.6Kw / Ton

Stag 250 TRS = 122.6Kw / Ton

Stag 300 RX = 120.3Kw / Ton

Stag 350 RX = 126.4Kw / Ton

Am I missing something guys?

That is not the issue.

The car need to pass the emissions test relevant to the year of manufacture and on these your are talking 2003 and on. This means their test is harder to pass (Higher emission standard) and their needs to be enough demand for a compliance shop to spend $26'000 to do the test and hopefully pass. If the car fails each subsequent test is another $26k.

Ben at North Shore Prestige is working on compliance for this model.

Cheers

Andy

I thought that Ben had a series 2 350?

He does. That is what he is trying to get done.

Ha!

I see, thanks for clearing that up, my 300RX passes as a 'Green Dot' vehicle in NZ, I think that means that it chuffs out flowers and some such like a hippie van cartoon from the 60's.

lol... so you have to have a certain amount of, erm, non-toxic smoke inside the vehicle?

Umm not on my tan - walnut interior thanks!

Non toxic smoke is reserved for standing around the track car in the shed with the bonnet open. :D

Its a shame they're not available here because the 300RX could quite literally take on the aussie wagons in every aspect. They have 190kw correct? and the fuel economy from what you've described is also a good deal better than local wagons. And you get climate control as well.

Here in austalia we have manufacturers listing air conditioning and power steering as features, as though we should feel privileged that they've taken the time to add them in. Hi tech in australia means the car has engine features that most other manufacturers invented in 1995.

btw the 300RX has:

VQ30DD engine (V6 3.0L NA, direct injection, 191.23 kW), rear wheel drive.

(from wikipedia).

Its power is very similar to the VQ35DE's 200kw, but I imagine it'd fall slightly short on torque (324N-m vs i think 360N-m?).
