Hey guyz,

need a few questions answered from people here who have gone through the same process.

I might be buying an R34GT in two weeks time (Hopefuly)

I have no idea of the process, i have never bought a car from another state. and have no idea bout how to go about...

i did find out a few costs but not sure if they are the only things i should be worried bout.

these are the things i have found out:

I called a transportation company and was told it will cost me Door(VIC) to Door(W.A) = $1149

Pits inspection = about $80

Registration = depends

yeah thats all i know.

I contacted the person selling it and he told me the Car is Stock Standard is not Registered and has just been Imported, The compliance has been done and it also has a Road Worthy Certificate.

The Major Service has been done on the car including Timing Belt change and WaterPump...

It does not have any modifications at all, not even the wheels.

Newbie Questions.

1. He has told me to Put a deposit of 1000, which is the safest way to do it?

2. What is the safest way to pay for the car when i am ready to buy it?

3. Do i have to get them to fill up a form or somethin?

4. WIll i have to pay the transportation agency anythin else apart frm what i was quoted?

5. How do i check if the car is Dodgy?

6. Is there any way i can pay mechanic to have a look at it without me been there? like how you get RAC to

check a car here in w.a?

7. Is it hard to register a unregistered car from another state? if the car is stock and is in very good condition?

8. I read somewhere around here bout the new Emission Laws, will i have to do a an emission test if the car is

Completely Stock

9. Is there anythin else i should be worried about?

10. Have i asked alot of Stupid Questions?

Thanks a lot for you help Guyz.

fly over there, have a look at it

if you decide to buy it, drive it home

i doubt you'll spend $1150 in fuel

but do you have the time off to be able to spend 4 days driving it back (if you're by yourself)? The freight you have been quoted is actually cheaper than what we paid to get our old car over from Melbourne, but it's(transporter) hell on your car with stonechips, bearings etc.

so your going to buy another N/A? And your going to VIC for one. Thats alot of effort for a non turbo car and risky. I wouldnt advise it. Buy local and go turbo or nothing dude. Take your time with the decision making as you will regret it later on.

Thanks for the replies Guys.

Reason for buying an N/A is coz they use less fuel and i will be using the car everyday to Uni or work and shit.

The R34's are Cheap in other states that's why i looked there. If i did find one that was cheap i would buy it from here.

I cant fly there coz my UNI will be starting Next week and work.

Still Deciding though.

But if anyone can answer a few more of my questions it will be great.

Cheers

Mate, my NA 33 and 300hp 33 both have the same fuel efficiency. So there goes your argument.

Buy turbo and you won't regret it, may as well. Drive it properly and off boost and there's no way a turbo can use more fuel because there's the same amount of air/fuel entering the engine.

1. He has told me to Put a deposit of 1000, which is the safest way to do it?

Nothing is safe with a stranger, cross your fingers and do a bank transfer

2. What is the safest way to pay for the car when i am ready to buy it?

EFT (If he f**ks you over, you have a way of tracing the money for a legal stance.

3. Do i have to get them to fill up a form or somethin?

Interstate transfer form ? you'll still need to go over the pits here

4. WIll i have to pay the transportation agency anythin else apart frm what i was quoted?

Storage fee if they try to deliver and you're not home or whatever maybe.

5. How do i check if the car is Dodgy?

God gave you 5 senses, you can improvise most of them together along with your brain :P

6. Is there any way i can pay mechanic to have a lo

ok at it without me been there? like how you get RAC to

check a car here in w.a?

Some insurance companies do the same thing over East, but like most checks over here, and like typical Eastern States people, they're useless

7. Is it hard to register a unregistered car from another state? if the car is stock and is in very good condition?

Provided it's complianced, previously registered, and it's bone stock, you'll be fine.

8. I read somewhere around here bout the new Emission Laws, will i have to do a an emission test if the car is

Completely Stock

No, if it's naturally aspirated, it won't need to do an emmmisions test.

9. Is there anythin else i should be worried about?

Killer Bee's, worry about those.

10. Have i asked alot of Stupid Questions?

No, you can never ask too many questions before forking over a large amount of money for a car.

Run a REVs check on the VIN/Chassis and engine number to make sure they are/were matted on previous rego (not a stolen engine, vehicle, or both), the car hasnt been registered as structurally totalled in any accidents, make sure there is no money owing on it, etc

Happy hunting

Yeah i know what you mean. have wanted a turbo one for long but i cant afford the R34GTT at the moment. and i want a newer car. i have had the 33 for a while and i loved it but i want to buy somethin newer that i can drive for a while till i can afford the r34 GTT(Which will be next year). i am liking the looks of the r34.

My Budget is only $13500 at the moment. and i found a really good r34GT that i can use for a while and then upgrade to GTT

Here is the link to the one i want to buy -

Hey mate, the car has never been registered. it has just arrived from Japan. but has a roadworthy certificate and the compliance has been done.

Will it make it difficult to register if it has not been registered before but is complianced, has Roadworthy certificate and is Bone stock?

auto non turbo.... I had one and sold it as quick as I got it. You'll be sick of it in no time, not to mention depreciation if you only plan to keep it a year. Keep the $ and buy a banger or just buy a 33 gtst series 2? Possible to find a 40th anniversary 97/98 model so thats newish..

also heres a 34 turbo auto in perth link - highish kays though..

auto non turbo R34 in perth link

Edited by Ten Four

yeah but the price of r33 gtst is going so low that when i want to sell my car again i will get back less for it

i can probably get more for the r34GT than for the R33GTST. thats one of the reason i want to get teh R34GT coz its the same price as the R33GTST from another state and the R34GT can sell for more when i am ready to buy the R34GTT

Guys cut him some slack on the N/A. He will eventually give in to the withdrawal symptoms of boost, but it'd be nice to have a straight, stock N/A Skyline and slowly build it up, one mod at a time, keeping it legal, eventually turning it into a monster

Nah, as long as it is complianced and has all certificates (shouldnt need any if it is stock), then you'll be fine.

You'll need to fill out a form from the DPI website, its a declaration of ownership or something, they trace the VIN and engine number, make sure neither are dodgey, and make sure the vehicle ended up in your possesion legit'.

Make sure you keep your temporary movement permit updated ($13.8x? for 48 hours) when moving, especially if the vehicle has absolutely no record of exsistance in the country.

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
