i have seen this car going around the gold coast the last year or so...

i drive that part all the time, there are alot of bumps, but nothing that can cause a issue if you know how your skyline handles... bad, another bad name for us!... now as soon as a cop hears a exhaust and he is not looking, he will pull us over.. happends to me the other day.. said i was speeding, and he had no speed gun with him, and i was doing 60 behind another car in the left lane, he was pulled over and only heard my exhaust, (which is legal as hell)

i really hope no more skylines do dumb shit, or make mistakes for a while so wec an get them burnt out of the cops/publics eyes for a while .. they were not made with the same rep as a damn holden commador, alot damn classier and different style, but now they are just the damn same :).. sort of disapointing hey?...

PS: now because of stupid people, we are all getting treated the same and on the same level.. act like a little kid, you get treated like one, and seems like we are all getting treated like this now... ;)

hope that green skyline is happy for now makng us dumber

Alex34 - If he gets a slap on the wrist nothing is going to stop him from buying another car, doing the same thing and next time possibly killing somebody innocent, while he says to himself "might aswell, didn't cop much last time." On the other hand if he is dealt with harshly he might think about driving responsibly next time instead of trying to be a fast & furious wannabe.

LordMidol - Jail is a piss poor deterrent? Sorry, but you're infact saying nearly every civilization on Earth has got it wrong for the past few thousand years and it doesn't work? They need more jail time to prevent this. Say civilization did get it wrong, what should be done about it? Defencive driving course? So these losers can pretend to drift with an instructer on a skid pan, come out of it thinking they're race drivers because they've done some pissy course, go out and try it all over again with their new skills?

I think they need harsher penalties, maybe not jail, maybe disqualified for driving for 1-2 years. That'll teach them.

I think your argument is flawed and can be proven wrong simply by the fact if you look at the stats of people who go to jail, the number of them who re-offend is usually really high. The scary part is I remember reading somewhere that most of them re-offend within the first year, so clearly jail is not a deterrent. Harsher fines, maybe, but jail, absolutely no way, I just cant support it, its to extreme. I think you have to look at the number of times the person has committed the crime before you can pass on any real serious punishment.

Good comments mate, I agree 100%.

It's funny, we all try to do the right thing (mostly) and end up getting taken down a peg by these sons of tards. Seeing this shit pisses me off to no end, remember when the drunk girl killed herself in her boyfriends' car in reddy? The amount of shit we copped because of that stupid person?

I can already see the ACA special on 'hoons' now....

I clearly stated that no one was hurt and if the driver kills himself too bad. If he killed someone innocent then I wouldn't be against a jail sentence, but for speeding and flipping his car and only injuring himself, cmon, we can't put everyone in the same boat, how many teens would be in jail with criminal records and their lives ruined just because they were speeding. They take the risk, because they don't think about the consequences but I don't think putting them in jail is the answer unless they do kill somebody, because you can't argue with that. Look at the laws now, they the strictest they have ever been, for god sake you go to jail for drink driving if you do it twice in like 2 years. Yet with all the harshest laws and penalties in place, there has been no improvement in the number of deaths on our roads and this is taking into consideration that cars have been getting safer and safer. So clearly harsh fines and penalties are not the solution. There are a lot of knobs out there that I would like to see of the road, like the morning retard who weaves through traffic, but jail is just to harsh. Just keep in mind what kind of people go to jail.

I agree with you except one bit.

I don't even agree with jailing people who kill others in accidents. Jail should be used to protect society, that's it. Jail is a piss poor deterrent and it benefits no one. It's only purpose is to make people feel good. I don't know about you, but when someone is punished I'd rather it actually deter people (which imo, with speeding, is impossible) and/or it actually benefits society. Locking someone up does not benefit society and it won't protect them either.

Yes, I believe that's exactly what I said.

They need more jail time to prevent this.

Yet there is more evidence being released every day which contradicts this very point.

Come back when you have a clue. Jail has never been a successful deterrent, if it was, our crime rates would be lower and the recidivism rates of prisoners would be much, much lower.

I find most people who support gaol have the inability to open themselves up to other options and more commonly, don't want to... They seem to enjoy the idea of sending someone to jail and what the person will face in prison.

Why did this spastic have to do this in a skyline? FFS this gives me the shits!

There's no way jail is the right punishment for this guy though, loss of license for an extended period is a must IMO. I'm not sure what the laws are regarding second offenses for things like this, but - IF he was to jump in another car and do something as stupid again (without a license) should he then be facing a much more serious sentence? Such as prison?

I agree 100% with jail being a place to hold those that are deemed a danger to society. And surely if some idiot proves that they will act recklessly endangering the lives of innocent motorists/pedestrians after being 'warned' once with a disqualification, then honestly isn't prison going to be the correct punishment?

I guess time will tell if this loser learns his lesson though.

On the other hand, maybe they could just sentence him to owning a hyundai getz forever?? :whistling:

Could be, obviously it's hard to generalise but if someone proves themselves untrustworthy and an ungoing endangerment to society then jail does seem appropriate, however, whilst in jail we have to figure out how to rehabilitate them so they do not endanger lives again.

How about after a second offence they get a GPS tracking bracelet that ONLY engages when he is travelling over 50kph. Public transport could have some kind of system in place (perhaps their own GPS tracking technology) that is monitored all the time. Base does a simple calculation, if x is within y distance to public transport tracker then he is probably on public transport?

Might cost a few thousand (hundreds of thousands) to setup but if it saves lives and prevents us from sending people to prison then would this not be a suitable "probation" style punishment?

If someone is caught drink driving ban then from pubs licensed venues & ban then from consuming alcohol at all (as a second offence punishment). Jail should always be a last resort, a case of we either put the bloke/girl in jail or someone will die or be injured.

How do you ban somebody from all pubs etc or from consuming alcohol full stop. Prohibition is impossible to enforce properly. Easiest way to make people want something more is to ban it.

The knee jerk reactions to this are astounding. He was speeding he crashed nobody was seriously hurt I don't see how this warrants a jail sentence or the lengthy bans people are dreaming up. Drunk drivers are given far less for being way over the limit but nobody kicks up a fuss.

Who's to say this isn't the wake up call the guy needs. If hes like anyone around here then hes just lost his pride and joy because of a silly mistake, hes not likely to want to repeat that any time soon. If he does then fair enough hes a repeat offender. Punish him harshly then.

If he has a record of driving offences then throw the book at him but this article tells you 0 about his driving history. If he has no prior violations why would you punish him so harshly. Its an accident, accidents happen.

One thing that stood out for me is the baldy tyres. QLD transport need to implement a system where road worthys are required every time you renew your rego. The amount of cars that you see on the road that have no business being there is ridiculous. They are accidents waiting to happen. If you can't afford to maintain the car then you can't afford to drive it. Simple.

The knee jerk reactions are ridiculous. I'm not proposing anything for first time offences, or second time offences. Third time causing an accident whilst drunk? Something needs to be done and I simply proposed one option.

I know a dickhead who had to go to the police station DAILY. A simple way of monitoring it could be daily visits to a police station, sure, he can drink a few without getting caught but if someone has to be at the police station at 7-8am every morning then there is no way they could get drunk the night before. Yes, they might just get drunk in the morning after going to the police station but this is a better alternative to JAIL.

It's not that hard to implement. A possible system:

Certain mechanics can do the safety checks. They forward the results to QLD Transport, QLD Transport flags your rego as a "pass" and sends out the rego renewal. You must have the check done before your rego expires.

I think that'd make for a fairly cheap system, costs QLD transport very little I'd imagine.

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
