maybe people who post completely misguided stuff without looking up basic mechanical knowledge, and all the internet mechanics who copy paste "solutions" from other websites which are tangential and not related to the original problem at all, and the people who argue with a reasoned, logical opinion in their pigheaded attitude that they are right all the time should GB2 Boostcruising, Calais Turbo, Supercar forums etc.

these days it seems like if you ask a question, no matter how simple or silly it might be to other people, it makes you "in the wrong".........

I see plenty of questions getting asked, and most of them get treated on their merits (or lack thereof). Some people try to do research themselves, but struggle to work out how everything gels together. Their understanding of basic principles and keenness to learn comes through, even if the finer details are lacking.

Then you get idiots who just can't be bothered trying to help themselves by looking for information first, or get it from dubious sources, and then ask basic questions (or make pie-in-the-sky goals) that anyone with half a brain interested in the topic at hand would realise were disconnected from reality or a 10 second Google search away (not referring to AYW550's specific query here, but in general).

i guess its easy to say things here on the forum and not to someones face. its easy to be a keyboard warrior. its easy to bag someone out on the internet.

Breathing is easy too. Ease doesn't make it something not worthwhile to do.

There are so many stupid people in the world, and it makes me sick that our technology has advanced to such a state that they're not getting culled by Darwinism.

Who says bozodos and mad082 aren't helping? It brings to mind a favourite quote of mine:

"There are a lot of stupid people in the world, and if you don't tell them then they will never know".

Personally, I think bozodos is more in the wrong. It was a bit condescending to tell AYW550 to keep away from working on motors because he doesn't understand how one implementation works, and then totally blow his top when it was pointed out (and not exactly in a massive insult) that he'd also gotten something wrong.

But hey, I won't fault the attitude that being rough while accurate is more important from a technical standpoint than being polite but wrong.

ok well maybe you should take your own advice here. telling someone to "get the fuck over yourself" isn't exactly being nice either. also going off some of your posts on this forum you are far from being a saint. sure it's all good to go on about how this is a community but since it involves humans interacting with each other you will always get arguments. i know i'm certainly no saint. i've been in plenty of arguments on here. but i will never act the saint. i get up on my 'high horse' about things, but i will always remember that there is shit on my boots. LOL

fyi Scathing, I was meaning in my original post that he really shouldn't be fiddling around with motors if he hadn't grasped simple concepts such as petrol engines all having spark plugs etc. I don't see that as condescension, moreso trying to be helpful maybe? Its like how I don't know stuff all about suspension setups, so I don't attempt to replace bushes etc by myself.

If we are arguing over which statement is more stupider A) Spark plugs were replaced by coil packs in petrol engines or B) The ignitor for the coilpacks which power the spark plug in the R34 RB25DE Neo motor isn't equipped individually into each coilpack... I think I know which one is the winner.

Let's put it this way, this guy learnt a lesson he won't be forgetting. I would be thankful for that.

i can admit that in hindsight i asked a pretty ignorant question when i started this thread about coils and spark plugs, but now thanks to most peoples help on here i have a much better understanding,,,i just got a little offended when bozodos snuck in a little comment for me not to touch my car, since i consider myself a fairly good DIY guy i couldnt help but say something back, and yes i did ask the dumber question

too bad however that bozodos couldnt have played a bit nicer and not thrown his toys so far out of the crib, sorry for any disturbances i caused on SAU

Fair enough. Text is hard to convey tone sometimes. I got a bit of a "Why don't you let the big boys get back to work" with a pat on the head kind of vibe.

I've got NFI about coilpacks / spark plugs whatever (which is also why I don't work on engines). I got the impression from the thread that the coilpacks and plugs in the RB are so close together that they're easy to mistake for a single unit, whereas he might be used to them being more separated (or cars with no coilpacks at all).

From the assumed knowledge in his questions it seemed like he just wasn't aware of how the RB specifically was engineered, not that he'd never pulled anything off any engine before. Every new car requires a bit of learning on how it all works and the easiest way is to associate it with things you already know.

But hey, its nice to see the tone go more civil here. It's amazing at how this "community" can mend its fences when everyone's on the same page, which is only possible when some people stop talking poo.
