Hi There,

Thinking of getting a set of semi slick Azenis tyres for my R33 gts-t.. (255x40x17 rear & 235x45x17 fromt)

Really interested to see if anyone currently use's these tyres on the street (yes, they are street legal)???

I understand they are soft compund and will wear much faster but does anyone know how many K's they got out of them??

Will it make a small or huge difference to handling on street?

Best regards

Rob

I have a mate with a well sorted s14 with these tyres. He gets about 10,000km of pretty hard driving.

They'll make a massive handling difference too if the rest of your suspension is up to it.

:) thx

Does anyone know how much for the tyres?

I want to get a spare set for occasional track day

I have Azenis semi slick 255/40/17 @ rear and keep my FM901 (235/40/17) in front for handling comparision for two weeks now, the rear does not easy to step sideway as what I though before, instead it's quite grippie compare to the FM901 I had before, also in past weeks sydney was in wet most of time and the falken perform extremly well..

just my 0.02

OH..tempe sell them 300 ea fitted and balance inc german valae.

I bought my 32 with a half worn set.

Three months later they were gone.

I guess it depends on your driving, i was not kind to them.

On a plus side they are unbeatable on the road once there was heat in them. The feel and bite was beautiful even on damp surface.

I'm now running TOYO TS-1 and they suck!

I agree GTRman1992, true R tyres are a huge step up from road tyres, the Azenis are definately at the bottom of the range for R tyres.

But the serious R tyres are a real pain to live with, noisey, tramlining, v fast wearing, you would have to be very serious to use them all the time. I've used , Bridgestone Re540s, Dunlop D01Js and Bridgestone Re55s, the Re55s are amazing, another level up altogether

but seriously guys im using the Azenis semi slick tyres on my gtr, and ive never had a better tyre then them, once they get warm, there isnt much differnce in the grip compared to all the other tyres mentioned, the only differnce is that they are east to drive with daily, not noisy, and handle very very well, mine dont last long only a couple of months, but thats only casue all 4 wheels spin in most gears once boost kicks in, ad its only about $1240 for the whole set of 4.

for street use i highly recomend them.

I see...

And I assume by this you have bought and used D01Js, RE540s, and RS55s on the street and for track work? :D

I run RE-540S as everyday tyres. I don't mind the road noise (only bad at 80km/h) and as for wear:

Tyre set 1 (NangKangs): 8000Km

Tyre set 2 (Yoki 539's): 17000Km

Tyre set 3 (RE-540's): So far about 5000K and they still look good, I've also done a track day with them.

I think for the hard core driving most of us do only a set of racing tyres are up to the task. My NangKangs were not worn out as such, the tread blocks were torn out.

    • Hi, i’m making a rb25det coil loom for Vag short coil. Can anybody tell me which Ecu signal wire belong to coil number 1 and 2,3,4,5,6? The connecting switch in above pic is 8 wire i think white is for +12v and black for earth.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
