jrm
I bought my missus one, absolutely poos all over a R34 sedan from great height. Awesome cars, excellent build quality and engine. Dunno 'bout that.... When I was searching for a car it, I was looking for a four-door turbo import - came down to two cars for me - JZX100 (single turbo VVTi) vs R34 GT-T Sedan - and they had to be factory delivered manual (can't stand auto). I ended up taking both for a test-drove - they felt about the same power and handling-wise - but difficult to test on a test drive with a salesman next to you. The more 'luxury' interior of the Chaser was okay, but felt very boring - in stark contrast with the sportier Nissan R34 interior. Next came up the look at the price, the Chaser was about $2K more expensive at the time for similar km, this along with the R34 seeming to have a better support in both repair/replacement parts, servicing and aftermarket - it became a fairly easy choice to go R34 for me. Mind you, if I could have a second turbo import in my car, it would be a chaser.... Ahh if I only I had the money to get rid of the N14 SSS daily and get that instead .. still love the ol' chaser. I love how understated it can be. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/284356-toyota-chaser-jzx100/page/2/#findComment-4784391 Share on other sites

BoyWhoCriedWolf
Ive owned 2 of these. Both manual. One was a stocker and the other was a TRD jobbie with pod, exhaust, wheels, sus and FMIC. Both cars were fantastic, the TRD version is just porn to look at. They drive great and are pretty good on fuel. But that stripey interior, gawd, I could let that go. I absolute love the car, has a trust front bar and some xd-7's looks lovely with perfect offset. AAIP
Been looking at these over the last couple of weeks and am starting to take a liking to them. Just wondering if any one had any feed back about them be it good or bad points.Might look at buying one once the 32 is gone....one day lol. Thanks. Awesome car, let down is the interior. Series 1 has the grey vinly similar to a camry or avalon of the era, S2 has a black interior, different steering wheel and twin circle rear tail lights. Still a great car all round, expect to pay around 700000 yen for a decent vechile from auction in japan. scathing
Chasers are sick. Retrim the interior, dumped on big rims with lots of camber, and a 6 speed / light tune 2J conversion, and a reasonable sound system and it'd be perfect. haleja
good family car, good drift car, good straght line car, but apparently the interior is very "plastic" so i hear. thats personal opinion though i guess. r32line
IMO interior is the ONLY let down. Slightly i dunno, grandpa spec. +1 They can look good outside with some tasteful mods and can go fkn hard but the interior is pure camry... scathing
Sounds more like an aristo. True, but luckily it won't look like one. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/284356-toyota-chaser-jzx100/page/2/#findComment-4794989 Share on other sites
ovaxitd
you cant compare against r34 as different era.. they are on par with design of r33 4 dr have had both and the chaser is so much smoother and comfortable.. the r33 is still "cramped" plenty of good examples running around... the vvti 1j had yet to be unleased much in aus.... doing 14.1 std and with pod/ exh 13.8's and with fmic and some boost 13.1~ so pretty quick and ability to carry people around Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/284356-toyota-chaser-jzx100/page/2/#findComment-4795713 Share on other sites

iseekool
you cant compare against r34 as different era.. they are on par with design of r33 4 dr have had both and the chaser is so much smoother and comfortable.. the r33 is still "cramped"plenty of good examples running around... the vvti 1j had yet to be unleased much in aus.... doing 14.1 std and with pod/ exh 13.8's and with fmic and some boost 13.1~ so pretty quick and ability to carry people around When people say the chaser is so much smoother/comfortable - are you guys referring to the ride quality and seating position? What makes the chaser more superior to the R34 sedan in terms of features - both have auto climate control and the usual electrics. Engine and trans would be somewhat comparable - both are 2.5L and have some sort of vvt... Even the silhouettes and size of both cars are similar. I find the R34s ride a tad harsh at times (I own an R34 sedan). How does a stock chaser handle compared to a stock R34 sedan? I've generally been under the impression that toyota sedans handle pretty bad in stock form so a good set of coilovers is almost a must - which in turn would make the chaser "less" smoother/comfortable.. I'm just curious - because the seem to be very similar cars - are they "direct" competitors in Japan - just like he Falcon and Commodore her in Australia. note: I've never been in a chaser or even an aristo for that matter.
