nissan ichigo factory

http://www.nissan.co.jp/INFO/FACTORY/TOCHIGI/detail.html

It has the GTR engine build.

There are a few others on the left side too, like yokohama (15mins on shinkansen from tokyo).

Or visit the Nismo factory at Omori, I think there is a JR Omori or subway there.

Asahi breweries:

One in Nagoya is:

318 Nishikawahara-machi, Moriyama-ku, Nagoya, Aichi 463-0089

TEL 052-792-8966

Catch train from Nagoya station to Shinmoriyama station (platform 7 or 8 - JR Chuo Line)

Catch the local one not the rapid one as only the local one stops at shinmoroyama.

Then follow the map and walk about 15mins to the place.

Try a search of this forum... I started a thread ages ago to compile a list of tuning shops etc... it has directions to nismo omori factory etc...

But the station you are looking for is Omorikaigan, then short walk.

We are in tokyo from 11-18th sept also.

Yea I'm actually trying to find the link to book the tour in since my computer at work blocks google translator..

Actually in tokyo from 12 -17th sept.. How funny...

Just out of curiosity who are you flying with and how much? I know you are from NSW but was it under 1000 bux return?

Yea it was just under $1000. $997 or something like that including taxes with JAL

I would never fly Deathstar. Qantas is a bit of a rip these days.

I hope so... I fly out on Sunday, back to Tokyo.

Number 1 stop, that giant Gundam robot!!!

lol nice, there are a few shops with them, i found that if you are willing to shop around diff stores, some are a lot cheaper than others, in akihabara.

If you are looking for tourist sites to visit don't pass up Kinkakuji (the golden temple).

It is pretty awesome to see, don't always eat at Maccas and Yoshinoya- do yourself a favour and go into some local backstreet Udon/Ramen shops.

Quite often the pokiest little ramen shops have some pretty good stuff.

Take a trip to Akihabara for the Electronic stuff and qwirky games and what not.

Apart from that pick up a lonely planet guide and go through that for sights, car wise I haven't spent enough time in Tokyo/Kyoto so some of the other guys will be able to steer you right on that.

I am going from the 17-29th of Sep.

Have a good trip

I'm here now. :laugh::D

DeathStar weren't that bad... food was average but that's to be expected. And $7 for a Asahi is a bit insulting.....but for the price of the airfare they are good.

Make sure you bring some thongs/sandles or shoes that are comfortable when VERY wet. Damn Typhoons dump a shit load of rain!

Oh and you can buy cheap umbrellas from chemist's, 7/11's (and the like) and the Superfunhappydiscount King Penguin shop. Go a Umbrella thats 65cm or bigger. Umbrellas coast about 400-600 Yen. EVERYONE has umbrellas!

or maybe you're just stealing other ppl's umbrellas from the umbrella bin. lol

here in aus, you'd never ever walk around with a clear umbrella. but over there, everyone has one. so i got one too! :)

theyre so damn practical. you can see straight thru it.

I'm here now.

Actually, I have a well-practiced theory about the Circle K/Sunkus/Lawson's umbrellas. DON'T GET ANY BIGGER THAN 60cm! For some reason, THOSE are the ones that always break with a strong wind (or even a gentle wind for that matter). I have literally bought a 65cm cheap plastic umbrella, stepped outside, walked 100m, and had the wind twist it inside out leaving it irrepairably damaged. This has happened more times than I can remember.

BUT, the 60cm (or less) ones, a lot sturdier. If for no other reason, then the paper-thin metal rods that stretch out over the umbrella, are shorter so likely don't flex as much with the breeze!

Actually i concur! :D

First strong wind (yeah it was a typhoon, but i didn't know that) and the thing buckled....but it didn't break! So i just aimed it into the wind and 'bang', all fixed. The plastic arm ones are the key, i believe.

And how good are those 'umbrella plastic sleeve bag' things!!! The Japanese have it all over us when it comes umbrella technology and moisture preventive use!

Oh and escalators!!! Stick to the left if your just there for the ride, or go the right hand side if your in a hurry!!

Wow so many posts!

That escalator rule applies here! or bloody well should because I just budge past people who stand in the right side it drives me mad!

Yea I will pick up an umbrella over there..

Not a fan of Maccas for a start I would rather find myself a nice ramen place for sure!

Thanks for the tip on the thongs I wasn't actually going to bring any because I didn't think I would need any. I was just going to take some flats.

I have a lonely planet guide and one for Tokyo as well.

If anyone wants to meet up or so drop me an email

[email protected]

emails on my phone :D

If you can make it down to Shikoku on the 13th of September, there is a local gymkhana circuit event I am entering with my MR2. It's at Setonaikai circuit near Saijo City. Should be about 30-40 cars attending. Could be a good opportunity for you to glimpse the local Japanese car-racing scene.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
