Hadn't really thought about it before now but from a quick look around I found www.timeshareexoticcars.com which have one for $17K. Be interesting to find out how much time behind the wheel you actually get for that investment???

Anyone heard of these guys before or know how it works?

What you said is basically how it works, the car is an investment itself and you basically share / part owner of the car with a few other owners.

The more you invest into the car the more you get to drive it on a yearly basis.

But there are other cost involved and a few guide lines you must obey to, whilst co-owning the car.

Just got an email back from them (www.timeshareexoticcars.com) . $17K would get you about 1 month of time with the car every year. You can't take it on the track though...but I guess no surprise there.

$17K x 12 months = $204,000.

A new R35 GTR is about $165,000 to about $185,000... Approx / depending where you buy from.

You might as well save up and buy a new R35 GTR from the dealer and own the car.

No restrictions, nothing, do as you please as it is your car.

well they probably factor in a month per year for transport and servicing etc. so it's more like $187K, plus you need to figure that whoever the organiser is does it for a living, they are wanting to make a profit out of it. so they probably get 11 blokes at $17K, gives them about $20K up front, then they charge you a management fee per year which covers their time in organising the logistics and covers servicing, rego, insurance etc. I do agree though, it's not really a good way to go.

If you are looking at something like time share, I would personally go for this:

I think the difference with the timeshare one is that you actually own part of the car so you can re-claim the original investment when you decide to sell. I don't think the investment would lose too much value either, regardless of depretiation.

Cheers for the input...Am still keen. Would love to have an R35 in my garage even if only for a month!!! I aint gonna get my hands on one outright anytime soon.

That's an absolute nonsense - paying 20K to drive a car for 1/12th of the year, possibly less if there is some servicing involved within that month.

You'd be better to invest the money, or buy yourself a brand new 1000cc sportsbike if you crave the performance that much - and it will do 0-100 and 1/4mile quicker than the big beast GT-R.

Can you ellaborate. It seems pretty good to me??? Interested to know if you've had any actual experience with Timeshare???

They (Timeshare Exotic Cars) reckon you can sell your stake at anytime as well. Apart from the yearly cost which I believe is around 3k for insurance, rego, transport, maintenance etc - I think you should be able to re-coop the initial cost - you can't do that if you buy the car outright.

Anyone done one of these before or know someone who has?

Might sound cool, but you wouldn't want 11 other guys to fart in your seat and stain your rear seat right? :)

Never know - some might have a penchant for car seat sniffing.

On a serious note, I had a buddy in the States that did the Timeshare thing with a Camaro. He dug it. Never had any dramas and would just organise road trips around when he had the car. I went on one with him through Nevada and Vegas. Was killer.

Yeah I know someone that had a good experience with it too. I think it's pretty important that you only deal with established operators though, who are very clear as to your rights and responsibilities if things go wrong. Definitely worth doing a lot of homework before going in for this.

    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
