The other day in a mag I saw this car...The Toycar BLIT (2002/2007),It looks like toyota went bored of the caldina,so they atrt looking to real wagons (eg.Wgnc34 /nm35)so the got somebody with a chemistry toy set and asked him to mix a:

C34: 35% ..........2.5Lt.turbo(straight six),separated high beams

M35: 40% ..........roundish shape ,rear lights

legnum: 10% ...........smaller size

Saab: 5% ...........ugly grill

caldina: 10% ...........crap interior

Blit 100%

and to be prius friendly :laugh: they even have a 2.0 lt.(n/a)4WD option.. :) ...try to accelerate in a 1620 Kg wagon like that...

Yes,you now have another option (BTW rear side looks like somebody added something to a sedan, like the ugly Sangyong 4x4)

So...you want a wagon...you want performace...BUY A STAGEA... :)

Don't knock 'em too soon, fellas: they come with a 1jzGTE: far superior to both the RB25 and VQ25 in potential, and I believe the chassis is very closely related to the JZX110 Chaser: they will handle extremely well too...

yeah you know, i think that could even look good. some nice big wheels, low profile tyre... a bit of chrome and in black... Different rear bar for sure!

It doesn't take much for Toyota to build a superior car when there engines don't have half of the problems that Nissan does. Like yer ok I do drive a Nissan but I've still got a 1974 rt104 in my shed that's twice as reliable as my stag

Hmmmm. Yes. All my Nissans have been very reliable. My first RMR30 bought new did 600ks no troubles. I still have two R30s, 400 & 300 ks all good if a little rough round the edges.

I must confess that I like the Crown WNG. Very C34 but it does not have the stupid half opening rear windows.

The later Crown Wagon's also came in a 2JZ-GE... Bolt on a large GT35/40r or GT42r and go nuts :thumbsup:

I wonder if they can be complianced in Australia as ive never seen one on the road...?

yes, but you are talking mechanical, and we all know that Toyota over engineer... but with the exception of the Caldina, everything that Toyota have pushed off the production line post 2001, as far as I can recall, have looked like crap.

It is like the people in charge of the aesthetics of their cars have no emotion what-so-ever.

if caldinas werent so expensive, i probably would have bought one!!

They needed to be a bit bigger too... but I do love the newer models (not so much the interior though).

I have always said that toyota make reliable, yet boring cars. The type of people who toyotas are best suited to are the type of people who dont know what car they're driving - they just want something cheap to run, reliable, and good quality. Toyota deliver on this 100%. And they do make a few good sporty-looking cars as well - I do like the supra for example. But for the most part I find their cars technically superior in almost every way, but overall just boring.

Its about appealing to the mass market - and there's definitely a reason why toyota are the #1 most profitable (is that the right term?) car manufacturer in the world. Until recently they are the only one who hadn't reported a loss.

And yes I'll admit the same can be said for most aussie-delivered Nissans as well (the garden-variety maxima and tiida come to mind).

But when you have a lineup including silvias, 180s', 300zx, skylines, stageas, 350z, 370z, and now the GT-R, its clear they are passionate about sports cars....and pretty much all of these cars have a strong fan base surrounding them.

Having said all of that, I know a few people who are passionate about toyotas so obviously i'm just biased. :banana:

Agreed... mostly.

Give me a Celica GT4 over a 180 or Silvia, and a Supra over a skyline any day!

Those cars certainly do not lack "passion"... but they ended some time ago, unfortunately.

(as it stands, had I not bough a car based on my wants and the needs of a family - thus the M35 - I would have been quite happy in a Supra RZ or a Celica GT4)

I found these pics today, crown S170 athlete V wagon.

Nice..1JZ, manual and rear wheel drive! This is a better comparism to the stag.

If the stagea is the GTR wagon, then this is what you would call a supra wagon?

The article made up my mind on getting a stagea in the first place. altho the article is for S1 :)

also has a GTR Transfer case pulled apart , if you would like ill scan that as well.

somebody else saw the idea of comparing this 2 cars before

    • The alloy coolant reservoir has a sight glass, so as long as I can see coolant in the sight glass it's GTG, as for PS, it isn't anything catastrophic if it gets low, and as it hasn't lost a drop since I have owned the car I cannot see it being an issue, even after putting the "big block" 2.5 in....LOL The only time it gets slightly messy is at oil changes, as the oil filter sits above the frame, and I need to use a plastic bottle with its bottom cut off to catch the flow when loosening the filter
    • Good on you for taking on the job, but it is a big one. Even if you have bolt on manifold and turbo, you will need: Post throttle pressure source to boost controller to wastegate (and FPR, and ECU/MAP sensor) Pre throttle pressure source to top of BOV(s) Oil feed - you can take that from the standard port in the middle of the block Oil return to block under the turbo - this is much trickier than it seems to route a decent/wide pipe past the manifold. You really can't use rubber hose because it is way too hot there, and also the oil out of the turbo core is a bit frothy so it needs to have a decent diameter Water feed - you can take that from the standard port in the rear of the block. Water return - mine runs to a T into the heater box return, just make sure you don't create a high point making bleeding hard. All of those lines should use 200 series style teflon braided hose with heat shielding because everything needs to be routed past the manifold. Also a turbo beanie is a really good idea to minimise the chance of the car catching fire (under bonnet lining in particular) You also need to decide a cam cover breathing solution as well, will you vent externally via a catch can (probably illegal) or return to the intake (plumbing required and can oil up everything over time) Keep in mind the intake and exhaust piping in the engine bay will be custom so you either need to be able to fab ally and steel or have someone you can get a car that isn't running to. Get the wideband fitting welded into the dump pipe at the same time. Also, just my opinion, a screamer pipe attracts attention and doesn't add power, I'd plumb it back if you want to be allowed to keep the car on the road. BTW do you know anything about how healthy the motor is, and what power you are targeting? Doubling or tripling the factory power on an unknown motor is a little risky. Also fuel system will need some attention (pumps, high current hanger, direct power and earth feed, injectors etc)
