when i was looking for cars i noticed all r33 gtrs were around 23-25k mark, you wont find a good condition 33 gtr for under 20k gaurentee you, u MIGHT find one for under 20k but it will have a few problems with it. good luck

Cheers yeah i have seen a few around $23k

And tbh dont really like the shape of the r32 gtr...

Is there a lot of performance differance between the 2?? i have never driven a gts turbo just the r33 gtr.

Thats why i am thinking if i cant afford the r33 gtr then get a nice modded r33 gts turbo....

33gtst. You will not find a really good 1 for less than 25k. You will find a decent 1 for 22-25k but not 20k. I saw 1 that was sold for 15k, looks like crap and sound like the engine's gonna fall apart. Its almost like they're buying it for the sake of telling people "hey I own a gtr" but having said that, it will make sense if you have big plans and you're just after the shell.

Check out KR4-GTR's mint series 3 R33 GTR in the for sale section. I;ve seen it in the flesh, i dont think theres a better one out there. has some nice fruit on it too.

Its all been said before.............. u get what you pay when it comes to Gtrs. If you want a R33 gtr to look nice, you have to get a series 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah that is one sweet looking R i just wish i could stretch my budget to it i mean at a push i may be able to to $22k but not $32k :D

I mean i could go down the loan/finance route but i just dont like borrowing money though.

This is not possible. If you want one you will have to save more. Or just get something else.

Agreed, if you have a budget of 22k this would barely cover the cost of purchasing the car + comprehensive insurance for a 32 GTR. If you want an R33 GTR you'll need to budget 28K total IMO.

Not to mention the on going maintenance fees! - Everyone seems to overlook this..

Also, what happens if the engine lets loose after a couple of months? Budget another 7K for a rebuild!

They are a money pit, but they are worth every cent in my opinion.

^ +1

People see a cheap one on carsales and think ooo, i can afford a GTR.

You got purchase price, stamp duty, insurance, and maintenance... and if it was cheap then most likely a rebuild like you said... which is at the very least $7k

Looking at that then i may have to settle for a nicely modded r33gts turbo...

Or just save i suppose decisions decisions lol why is it so hard!!

Tbh i only want one that is fairly quick (traffic light grand prix to the speed limit) nice big rims nice bodykit and that is loud.....

To sum it up i am a cruiser and i just wanna pose >_<

Price is not always a reflection of quality. You just need to realise you are taking a punt with any car. A mate of mine bought a black 1995 R33 GTR V-Spec for only $19k a couple of years ago. Very neat car. It had a little over 100,000KMs showing on the clock and the condition appeared to reflect that. It was very original right down to the exhaust. It cost him basically nothing in maintenance while he owned it, he advertised it for $21k recently and it sold very quickly for close to that.

There are bargains out there. And there are expensive cars that are rubbish. For some reason people apply a general rule to GTRs that you need to pay more for a good one, it's simply not the case every time and you can certainly get ripped of applying that theory.

Either way, the cars are old, have had a hard time at some point in their long lives and will likely need maintenance of sorts. In saying that, there are no inherit weaknesses in the GTR and the RB26 often gets a bad wrap it doesn't deserve. Budget for maintenance no matter what you spend on the car.

Remember, GTRs are very difficult cars to sell. There's just too many for sale! Very often the lower advertised price of one just reflects the sellers frustration with selling and want to get rid of it at the right price, not the car itself! There are many of them for sale that will likely be for sale for a long time. So take your time shopping and getting a feel for prices, be ready to negotiate.

GTR's cost a lot to maintain, if you can't afford to buy one be warned that maintenance can be just as expensive. GTST's are cheaper for maintenance.

Don't do the traffic light grand prix, take it to the track for some real speed >_<

Yeah i know its a buyers market which is a good thing for me, i was using the traffic light grand prix as an example i very rarely put my foot down tbh, like i say i prefer too just cruise and look cool, than go flying past people, i want them to admire my car!!!

Yeah i have never gone off the reasoning the more you spend the better example you will get, its just not true there could be joe bloggs down the road with his r33 that his worth say $30k all day long but when he needs the money and puts it up for say

$22k some one will get a bargain, yet there could be joe broggs who is selling his, his is worth $30k but is a shitter and he may just get $27k....

I think its case of having your wits about ya and being on guard when it comes to buying cars luckily for me i have bought and sold a fair few over the years so i can see thru the lies and/or the deception etc i am of course wary of any seller no matter how friendly and trustworthy they seem.....thats not sayin all sellers are dodgy its just saying they are all your friends when they want your money!!!

Anyway i am just rambling on here guys lol

But i willl be taking my time and not just buying the first one i see unless of course it truly is the one....>_<

A guy I know is selling one here in WA for $23,500. It's a 1995 V-Spec with only 84k on the clock.

I put the stereo in it and I can say that it's a good buy for what he's asking.

Have a look and judge for yourself.

Yeah looks good but tbh to dear for me as i want to keep it around $20k or slightly under...

In an ideal situation i would pick one up for say $18k and have a few thousand "just incase money" floating around...

Stretch your budget or make some offers here and there. It honestly can't hurt.

This is the best buy out there right now just looking at ads:

Quite a rare colour, a series 3 with genuine KMs verified by log books! How many can you say have that? Regardless what the rest have on the clock you basically have to ignore it.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
