This is getting pathetic really.

Lets get one thing clear.

The product is less than 6 months old and in now way has it returned any profit during the formative period. I cove things in the Australian car scene and make Motive DVD OUT OF MY OWN POCKET

So, if forums want to help Motive DVD grow by spreading the word, then i can cover more events and hold more challanges etc and help support the car scene.

If a forum wants to treat me like someone selling chinese intercoolers on the net to make a quick buck and try and make me pay ( which this one doesnt) then fine, I wont cover any event or cars linked to that forum. I already have that problem with some other forums.

On the flip side, If you want I can put more advertising in my DVD to cove teh costs of my advetising? How does that sound? Exactly. I pay out of my own pocket to keep advertising to a bare minimum as no one likes watching advertising in the DVD.

Now by now you would have realised that if the forum owner and moderators had a problem with Motive DVD they would have binned this thread ages ago, but they havn't.

The only thing ruining this forum now is people complaining about something that really has nothing to do with them.

And while we're here, thanks to the moderators, owner and members for supporting Motive DVD!!!

One of very few automotive titles, and the only DVD, in Australia that is privately owned and funded by a car enthusiast and not run by an accountant.

Now it should be safe to say, if its OK with you [200] , that this discussion is finished......now.

You can put what ever advertising you want on the DVD - I couldn't care less because I will never watch it.

I have made my point before. To recap I think it is unfair that a registered trader has to pay SAU for them to advertise. I will guess my question will remain unanswered by those that made forum rules.

Good day.

throws [200] 50 c so he can call someone who cares.

Knowing how much Andrew has put into the care scene over the last few years with Ignition and now with his own Motive DVD i know he will be covering a lot of costs himself.

at first he wasn't really advertising on here he was just informing the market of a new product.your sooking and whinging has been the best positive advertising for it because so many have been reading this thread to laugh about your comments

PS Andrew another great DVD keep em coming and hurry up n get back to Perth for another Hillaries style meet up .That was so much fun with the cops blocking all the exits and entries :P

My question still hasn't been answered my any admin / mods and I think it was a very legitimate question to ask.

Why would they bother wasting there time on a muppet like you, the running of these forums has nothing to do with you, you dont pay the bills, have any sort of ownership and clearly absolutely no input into the running of it, the fact that you are the only one complaining tells me that no one gives a shit apart from you, if no one cares, and in fact by the look of the posts a lot of people are glad that this thread made them aware of this dvd then your question is mute and all this pointless arguing from you is just showing you as the mental midget you are.

I am sure there would be people that agree with me, even though I express my thoughts in a very direct and abrupt way.

mate, just accept it. You're an idiot.

Andrew puts alot of time, effort, and MONEY into producing this DVD to help our community. I know this cos i've literally seen him take money out of his own wallet to cover expenses.

As we've covered before..this is a "you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours" scenario.

Andrew covers SAU event (such as 10th Anniversary R34 GT-R Cruise in MotiveDVD #3).

non-SAU associated people watch dvd and see SAU

Ppl then join SAU cos they want to be involved.

ppl then donate/join club because they like the forum

SAU profits

SAU keeps running.

I admit, i haven't donated to SAU...yet.

I will be buying another skyline as my next ride, and will then be joining the NSW Club to help support the forum.

I would personally like to see you produce a better DVD, and sell it, without the support of forums and a like.

99% of people on these forums love these sorts of DVD's, and love that Andrew is doing it for them. he's not in it to get $$$$$$$, he does it for the love of the industry.

The guy owns 3 imports for f*ck sake..he loves them

Ok, this is getting silly now, you must have some sort of personal grudge to keep going on like this. Enough already and buy the DVD, it will make you feel better

Like I said before, I have no intention of even watching it let alone buying it and once again incase you've forgotten what I said a few pages back, there is no personal grunge. I will repeat, I have never met you, I have no intentions in meeting you and therefore couldn't care less about you.

I have made my point.

Feel free to continue with the name calling if it makes you feel better about yourself.

ASIO:- "Look (200); we've brought you in here to-day because your number's up! What have you got to say for yourself?"

(200):- "I've been trying to generate an awareness that JET200 has been exhibiting narcissistic behaviour by promoting his film footage yaddayadda without even being a registered SAU Retailer"

ASIO:- "You've posted up 8 times already. Where has it got you?"

(200):- "As I said, other people and not just myself would agree with myself that myself being an activist for what is right myself is being myself"

ASIO:- "You mean, being yourself, yourself, is a form of 'acting out' behaviour?"

(200):- "Well that MOTIVE DVD #3 is definitely NOT something that I myself will be watching; and 2 million others in this country like myself will not be watching it either - starting with myself"

ASIO:- "So this means that if 20 million other Australians watch or even buy MOTIVE DVD #3 (since we passed the 22 million mark to-day), you don't mind that; because being yourself is the most important thing yourself?"

(200):- "I've made my point perfectly clear already - Good Day"

ASIO:- "Yes we noticed that you've said 'Good Day' before. Did you notice that with all this controversy you've created, there are more MOTIVE DVD #3s selling now than if you never piped up at all? That means that JET200 is the one having a really 'Good Day' doesn't it?"

(200):- "Huh?"

ASIO:- "Yes, and we here at the Australian Skyline Impramatur Officialdom congratulate you (200) for stirring up so much sh/t that MOTIVE DVD #3 has now become a resounding success! :)

This is getting pathetic really.

OK, lets make something very clear.

Is MotiveDVD being released as a part of a commercial enterprise? I notice from its web site that its being run by a production company. Not individuals working together. Not a non-profit organisation. A company. Which is a type of business. Hence why you'd have an Australian Business Number, which lists a "trading name".

As per the forum rules:

Any business sellers who try to advertise their parts without becoming a trader will have their threads close or removed immediately without warning

Your profitability is irrelevant. The place I work for lost money in the last financial year, but that doesn't make them any less of a business.

The amount of money you invested into your business for a production that happens to include the site isn't a listed exception to the rule either.

The forum's other sponsors also go over and above the call of duty to help foster this community. They'll post up specials. Arrange group buys. All kinds of things that have them "add" to this community. Some also offer discounts to paid club members, which helps attract membership. I have no idea how profitable they are right now. They don't exactly publish their PnL statements, but times have been tough. However, their ability to advertise goods or services on this site still incurs a charge.

You're advertising your business' product. It doesn't get any more clear cut than that.

I've got nothing personal against you; I don't even know who you are. I couldn't care less about your DVD one way or another. Philosophically, as a car nut, I hope that you succeed and expand the market for automotive multimedia. I'm just pointing out that, as much as [200] is being aggressive about it, he's technically correct.

It's a shame that so many other members, apparently dazzled by their (vicarous) 15 minutes of fame on a multimedia release you can find in a local bricks-and-mortar shop, are missing the lack of consistency.

    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
