Abe i would also not get organic with a skylines get a

Ceramic Cushioned then you have the strength of the ceramic and drive ability of cushioned

But doesn't an organic allow you to slip it a bit more!?

So no matter what i really choose, someone is going to say "I wouldn't have chosen that clutch kit" or "Why did you get that one" or some other comment. Why cant choosing a clutch be easier :) , too many contradicting comments/opinions.

incase anyone didn't know cause I certainly didn't, *any* skidding/sliding/burnouts, even taking off from the lights with a bit of wheel spin equals instant 7 day impound + usual rapage. You only have to be suspected of being the one doing them to get booked for it, so if your in an area where someones being an idiot, leave fast.

One of my mates found this out the hard way.

With a clutch you get what you pay for. I went for a cheap Extreme, just recently i had to replace it. I should of spent the money the first time. Also best to get a clutch that is over built for your needs cos then you know it will last, don't just get one that you hope will last.

I don't know...maybe because i'm not a good driver, or it could be because that's what i am used to since driving the R33

yeah just a matter of practise there's no 'good' drivers we learn all the time, there's just better and getting better if that makes sense

after having my clutch in for over 3 years now im still getting use to it (then again i dont drive it much), stilll gottr slip/ride it, if u dont dont sumtimes u will stall and its an absolute bastrd bastard to drive in traffic with it, too aggressive with a lot of bite

On both occasions you were awake and even sitting up the second time waiting for us. Did you stay at a Christian Brothers orphanage or do some jail time? Because no-one should be that alert when 'sleeping' whilst on holidays.

Fitted my fmic intercooler piping kit. What a pain in the arse that was. :D Couldn't be arsed trimming the radiator fan, so I've removed it altogether for the moment. Does anyone recommend an electric fan kit?

I'll need to fit one before the track day.

what fmic kit did you get? you shouldnt be cutting up your fan (found out the hard way)

also, personal opinion, thermo's are shit if your also removing the clutch fan.

the clutch fan works alot better by its self then thermo's working be them selves. thermo's should only be run as a support to a clutch fan if your planning on dailying the car still.

again, this is my opinion. others may disagree.

thermo's ive used have only been davies craig brand and they did what i wanted them to do well (with clutch fan too)

I'll be one that disagrees;

Every east/west engined car ever made runs thermo's and none of them have cooling problems, and this includes 500+hp EVO's and Eclipses.

yes, this is true but we are talking about north, south mounted engines and ive seen and when used myself they seemed to be shit compared to the clutch fan.

if a company MADE the car come out with thermos, you would think that they did the proper investigating to make this work while clutch fans work on the north, south engines.

I think you'll find this has more to do with it being cheaper and easier rather than better or worse.

I'm running a single 14" thermo and even on the track i have no problems with temps.

The problem with clutch fan is that they produce parasitic loss all the time even if the temps are fine. The advantage of the thermos is that they only produce a power loss when the cooling is actually needed which you will surprised to know is only around 30% of the time (more if you are in stationary traffic obviously). When the car is moving generally you don't need any more air flow than what you are getting by the car moving through the air.

Look at the North/South cars being produced now 95% or them are running thermos.

Abe, help us to help you buddy.....ie.

How much power are you anticipating?

How much track work will the car see?

Is it your daly and if so, how much rush hour driving will it see?

and most importantly, what is your driving style like, ie. boot into it from most traffic lights (which is how I drove when I was younger) or just the occasional squirt, etc?

All the above factors have a big say on clutch choice but having said that (and as Steve stated) you couldn't go wrong with that NPC setup from the little I know about you and your car.

Hope this is all helping bud, cause I was the same when I was trying to decide on turbos and zorsts before selling mine.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?

They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
