They're that bad are they? I've heard good and bad about them, was thinking I'd try them out myself but seeing they're close, ah wells.

yes they are. Should of gone around the corner to Edwardstown custom body reapais or even more south to hounslow crash :ninja:

well your just silly then.

Why pay $30,000 for a parts kit that you can do in Australia for $50.

RIPS are pulling over 10,000 rpm on burn out and 1400HP on a standard RB30 block with standard crank and crank girdle.

ugh. gtr purists. im siding with dale. f**k spending $30k on some liners and a bolt on deck when i can jump on the club and find a 30e bottom end for less than $50.

and ive heard of quite a few of the os kits failing at life. id be pretty torn up about $30k going to waste, but i wouldnt give 2 shits about a 50 buck bottom end.

*just had a look at the kaki kit, seems waaaaay too cheap.

makes the perfectly nice car look a little cheapish and nasty / track hack job imo.

and i could 'almost dig it'. the splits a little off. if it was something like this,

Japanese_NISSAN_SkylineR34_GTR_police_car.jpg

itd be rad, and i actually would dig it.

Think I should of called before I went for a drive, went all the way to MC Doyles Crash Repairs and they were closed... as in like they didnt pay their bills and got shut down. Guess I'll have to take my business elsewhere...

that really isnt a bad thing.

that Kaki* kit is only sleeves and a block deck so no $1500 is not that cheap

Dan its about 450-600 to get an AWD adapter plate for the RB30 but a deck is a stronger better RTA friendly option you keep your original engine number

No pos RB30 bottom ends should be in a GT-R imo

:)

Dont get me wrong, I'm all for twin cam RB30's in VLT's, GTSTs, etc but not a GT-R... C'mon lol

Putting an rb26/30 in a gtr isnt a bad idea, if you use the car for performance or any kind of motorsport

keep the 26 stock tho if you want a streeter that'll hold its value - if I had two gtr's, I'd def put a 26/30 in the 2nd one

This is actually a blessing for you. PM me if you want further info but I wouldn't send my worst enemy there...

And I'm a big GTR fan but nothing wrong with a 26/30. Shit, I'd build one would it be not for the legality issues and all. Don't fancy ripping out a motor to visit Regency

with all this talk of rb30's, im feeling good, just a cam, turbo..and a manual conversion away!

Also, whoever owns a 100 series Landcruiser...you sir or madam, know how to select a good car!

Definatly the best 4x4 ive driven, and the easiest to work on. :)

would it really be noticeable to the untrained eye though? (having a 26/30)

Easily. The RB30 block causes the head to be situated very high compared to the stock 26, pm cubes and ask him about how much clearance he actually has (he reckons its not a lot)... cant run a strut brace with a 26/30 unfortunately

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
