Nice new Avatar Cara :)

I got my car back today, was the manifold turbo gasket that had blown out, the bolts had stretched a little and exhaust began to escape, if i had tightened them up as soon as i heard it i wouldn't of had to replace the gaskets. So $280 later they are replaced with genuine nissan gaskets, and a bag with what was left of said old gaskets.

wont let me submit the online form ruby.. so ill have to get a copy off damo and fill it in..

Craig had the same problem. Damn online crap :D PM me your details (name, addy, phone etc) and I'll sign you up. Do you have the bank details? I'll PM those to you too if not.

:)

Thats not too bad really. I pulled apart mine on the weekend and found $700 worth of things to replace (on top of what I already had known about), thats parts with me doing the labour. :D

Yeah, i could have saved myself about $200 by doing the work myself...but i wouldn't have trusted my workmanship in doing it. Sure it probably isn't that hard to do, just more time consuming then anything, plus he found the tie rod ends not installed correctly, and also replaced the hose clamps on my power steering to try and stop it from leaking.

just got my detailed tax invoice from garage 7

.........all 3 pages lol

I got a 3 page invoice from Tilbrooks in my little car file. I bet you can imagine how not cheap that was, pretty sure the labour it self came to 4k :)

Money well spent i recon. Car has been pushed very hard at the track many many times and the engine is still going strong, same can not be said for many other Rb26 powered cars.

this is true. ive spent much on labour at my preferred mechanics (see below) because each time i tell em to do something, they do it.

woot

Spot on, 26's are great provided you do things right... the FIRST TIME

thats good to hear chad, would suck a fair bit if you had spent alot of money for things to go wrong all the time....

Matty T who's doing your cage?

Lance quoted me 2200 for a full weld in then a couple of hundred extra to have the cage go through the fire wall to the strut towers which im defiantly doing, so around 2500 for a full weld in, which i thought was cheap :(

Earliest they can do it is July :).

hrm, carl williams bashed to death on the day the media revealed his daughter is getting private school fees paid by vic police

my guess is he ratted someone out in exchange for the cash and the inmates put 2+2 together

ahh fun stuff. who needs reality tv when u have reality to keep u entertained? heh

-D

Looking more likely

http://www.smh.com.au/national/as-the-rumo...tml?autostart=1

"Police will investigate if one of those rumours - that Williams had abandoned the code of silence and become a police informer - was the reason he was fatally bashed yesterday inside the maximum security Barwon Prison." and

"Rumours have been circulating in the underworld for nearly 12 months Williams was trying to cut a deal where he would give evidence in major cases in return for a substantial reduction in his crushing jail term."

and Cronic you were spot on too, apparently it was a 'friend' who did it....

Ben, the guy was a murdering weasel that got others to do his dirty work for him.

Can't believe the amount of peeps on other forums that are saying RIP, like he's a hero or something.........Mother Theresa didn't get this sort of attention, lol.

Just hope he made his peace with the big fella in the sky before biting the bullett.

do iiiiit. dont make me finish mine before you :(

random question, who's reputable to send rocker covers to for painting?

Paint them yourself Matty, I did my 31 covers 8 years ago with bright red VHT paint and they still look show room fresh.

and if your keen on some airbrushing flames or ? then pm me I might be able to hook you up

just make sure the rocker cover is spotless outside and a light scuff with a scotchbright, the logo if its has one can be removed and polished up or ?

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
