Hey, it's a long shot i know but does anyone on here own an Yamaha YZF R6 (05/06 or any year for that matter)? i would love to get a look at one - not a ride, i just want to measure the exhaust dimensions (so probably better if i visit you, measuing a hot exhaust could get painful). im sure i could find a 6pack for your help

and anyone got much experiance with bike mufflers? ruby? need to look into a cheap free flowing one (thats not a straight pipe as i need to be under 110 dBA)

thanks for any help in advance

I need an admin at the moment Ruby......

I'm starting up my own business on the side too. Business management consulting. $50 per hour (plus GST) to start until I build up a stronger client base.

I help out a few mates with their businesses after hours ... figured it was about time I got paid for my services (tho I do get beer for my worries). :ermm:

Got a few qualifications in business management, bookkeeping, accounting (inc MYOB and BillQuick), drafting (AutoCAD and Illustrator), design & construction management.

[end bragging] :P

This time of year alot of guys pack their bikes away for the winter. I know maybe one or two guys/girls with an R6, but which one do you want? Models from 2003-2005 are different to models from 2006-2009. Might even pay to "test ride" a used R6 from the dealer, whip around the corner before the exhaust heats up, and take your measurements that way?

Sorry, but "cheap" and "free flowing" and "under 110dBA" don't go together. I've always gotten the upper end exhaust systems for my bikes. Lately I can't go past Yoshimura pipes ... they also come with baffles, so you get that nice note, but still keeps it relatively quiet and free flowing. Its one or the other, but Yoshimura do a compromise very well.

Arrows are too loud and the packing burns out quickly.

Micron and M4 are porn ... but hell loud.

Akrapovic are porn too. Quieter than other makes at idle, but loud on mid-high revs.

Staintune are rubbish. I hate the look and the tin-type exhaust note. Tho they are quiet, they strangle performance.

Leo Vince are also excellent exhausts like Yoshimura! Had a full system on my race bike and it was awesome, but no baffle inserts.

I reckon a Yoshimura TRS (triangle shape) or RS3 (oval shape) with baffle insert (removable) is the way to go. The carbon muffler would absorb a small amount of the noise too at idle. Personally, I like the titanium one (as I have a full twin titanium system on my TLR. :ermm: But you'd be looking at $1300 for full system or around $700 for can only.

:P

Yerp. I go to UniSA city west, so my world is full of distractions lol. Worldsend Tavern FTW. Then I run into SAU members *cough JMW cough* and end up throwing my whole day out the window lol. Good times :P . Currently I'm procrastinating about doing a statistics essay, but don't worry I just went and got a Corona.

I’m at City West also as well as Mawson Lakes. Mawson is such a long way for me but at least it gives me a decent run in the 33 which makes the trip ok. Thankfully in second semester I’m only at City West and that’s good as I can just take a 20 minute train ride in. Stats essay :ermm: – sounds fun. I’m sure I’ll have to do that at some stage (i.e. next year). I’ve been working over the past 4 days on a user interfaces design plan drawing small sketches of mobile phone screens and using Visio to draw overly complicated flow charts. Your right, the UniSA City West campus has far too many distractions for a uni student. (not that I am complaining!) :)

what are you getting done krish? i need to get my seats fitted up too there the best playstation seats ever but i dont think they getting used to the full potential haha if me go down together or something might do a better price.

looking at getting a pair of 98 wrx seats and get them put in the 33....they are recaro's from memory and they are a lot better seats....

My guess is you are doing Computer Sciences or Engineering or something along those lines if you are going to those 2 campuses, my best mate was doing that, all the traveling nearly killed him (figuratively speaking).

Cheers ruby,

I dont actually know how to ride a road bike and dont intend on learning any time soon, we're actualy harvesting an R6 engine and using it in a "go cart" (think of something similar to formula ford), so lots of things need to be redesigned. i'm looking into the exhaust atm and because of its positioning/competition rules it needs to be drasticaly changed from stock. I was under the impression that the 05 and 06 engines were the same, but the purchase order went out today and we are getting an 05. I was going to head down to a bike shop if this fell through, but i'll cross that bridge when the time comes

As far as the muffler goes its not exactaly 110 dBA max its under particular test conditions that have a few loop holes like pointing the muffler tip up so that sound isn't directed at the mic, other competitors were using stock honda mufflers last year we just made one from scratch. In an attempt to reduce weight and get more air flow i'm looking into off the shelf/aftermarket/oem products that we could adapt... so perhaps the better question is, do you have an old muffler or 2 you want to sell cheap? =P

thanks again

anyone here good with electronics and know much about LEDs

tryin to work out how u compare the brightness of LEDs to incandescent globes. im making my own LED tail light replacements for the 4WD (not ricey altezza styles, basically removing the incandescent globe and having a panel of LEDs behind the factory lenses).

Using those LED Globes u can buy off the shelf is useless, they dont reflect right and are dull in my fittings. Want something that is bright in the day, but not stupid bright at night. The fittings im making will be more waterproof than my standard lights too

Yep – A double degree of Computer Science and Management. This will be my third year of doing the trip to out there. Takes me about an hour from where I live to Mawson one way. Love the days back in first year when I started at 9am and finished an hour later, then the next class was at 3pm for a couple of hours, then a bit of a break starting again at 6pm till 9pm. Awful!

I'm only looking to hire someone for data entry and basic Quickbooks book keeping as well as general admin duties, preferably with Excel knowledge and extremely accurate and conscientious. You might be a little over qualified

    • About $4k brand new, available from vendors in Oz, or via an importer from Japan. Although that is for an R34 box, so you also need to buy the push clutch front plate (brand new from Nissan) and swap that over, and drill the bellhousing for a push clutch slave cylinder.
    • Absolutely could be. I collected data logs from when the O2 sensor was still out and also after I had replaced it so will try to compare them. Pretty confident that the affect is lowered with the new sensor, will check logs at the same RPMs/conditions.
    • Hey guys Long time lurker, I daily a nm35 stagea 250t rs four and I've had it for almost 2 years (very reliable 👌). • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
