Have to agree with TJ. Bit late to drop out now and leave Hamish to pick up the tab :)

I'm still working on Nikki and getting him to come to this; unfortunately it's a bad time of year for him, so he still can't commit..............yet

I agree....It's like leaving a deposit, once you decided and left a deposit, it should not be refundable.

And I still think we should tell other non sau members asap, so we can get the numbers up again, so Hamish won't have to lose money over this.

i asked for the thread to be transferred but it hasn't been yet.... migt put up my own thread :)

its just that the non members cant link o this one and i'm lazy lol

i wasn't aiming that comment as kris and cas... there are a LOT of people that promised they were coming and then just ignored pm's :/

meh, i'm over pushing for it now ;)

the less people the easier and anyone who was at this years GOR cruse overnighter will attest that a small group is a good thing :)

i've amended the menu so i'll pretty much be breaking even give or take a few $$$ :)

menu is looking great!

I would assume not given we hadn't paid yet.

Hence i let Hamish keep the cash i gave him.

My fault for not planning correctly.

For those that did not front with the cash and then pull out last min... bit harsh.

And for the people that all said "in in in" for the EOI and then disappear... that's just even worse.

anyway, lets not get al negative in here..... :(

final food prep is today then i'm driving up tomorrow, doing cruise notes and getting the food in the fridges!

Should do that, even just copy and paste the important info, or I could do that for you if you don't have time :)

Mt Buller Cruise / Dinner

Saturday 14th November/Sunday 15th Noveber:

Hey guys, I am holding a 2 day cruise / dinner event @ mt buller this month.

The drive will begin @ 10 am this Saturday morning in the Sandown Hotel car park (next to Sandown Raceway) from where we will head Mountain highway to Sky High @ mt Dandenong for a chat and photo's. From there we will be heading over the Black Spur for the awesome twisties and some lunch in Marysville, and then off to Mt Buller road for a Hillclimb, where we should arrive at around 3pm

Once at Mt Buller we have the whole of SKILIB lodge privately booked, rooms are "private Queen" or Bunk style and are included in the price. There is a full dining room that will fit 30 odd people as well as a large living area with fireplace and a seperate TV room.

Dinner will consist of 5 or 6 courses depending on final numbers, with plenty of finger food and snacks on arrival, and is also included in the price.

I am a professional chef and have worked for a decade in some of Melbourne's best restaurants, and will be catering the event.

remember to BYO alcohol! and lots of it!

On the return, we will travel back down Mt Buller road and then back across the Black Spur and through Gembrook area, then back to Melbourne.

Mansfield BP has been notified of the cruise and has guaranteed a supply of Ultimate for us, so any fuel woes are sorted!

The cost of the Cruise is $100 per head, which includes dinner and accommodation.

The official attendance thread can be found at: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Mt...ic-t292028.html (note this is a members section and will not work if you are not a paid member)

this was originally a members only event but is now open to the public.

sorry for the late notice but i've been super busy organizing this and trying to cram in an 80 hour work week!

bank details:

Hamish Hampton

BSB : 033152

ACCT : 241795

please use sau username as reference and shoot me a pm :(

How many were you planning on Hamish?

EDIT: Do you think Ash would make a closed thread on the main board to notify people of this event? Just cause I know not everyone subscribes or checks events regularly

    • I drive the Tiguan much harder than the Skyline in all conditions, because it just grips and hooks, unlike the R33 shit box
    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
