what i said is basically everything that happened, but okay i will go more into detail..

i was driving my car listening to music, turned my car off at the shopping center, got back in my car turned it on and the cd player had no power at all, still has no power. i checked every fuse that runs the electrics in my car, they are all un broken.. im not sure what to do next, does anyone have any ideas why it just stopped working?

If its not some cheap brand there will be a reset button somewhere on the face.its about the size of a pen tip. it wont be labled.

its a sony cd player, couldnt find the reset button you were talking about, been working flat out havent had a chance to get to it but im pulling the dash apart to get to the back of the cd player to test the plug right now as i speak.

some sony models had the reset button behind the face. Its more then likely going to just need a reset but seems you have probly pulled the dash out by now.. what are you testing for power with?

EDIT: Seems your already back there unplug the loom from the CD player and leave it for a about a minute and then plug it back in and see what happends, that will reset everything too.

okay, well i took the cd player completely out of the car for about 20 mins while i had lunch, tested the wiring loom with a test light, only one of them lit up, im not sure if thats right or not? it was the top 2'd one from the left. or the bottom 2nd one from the right, coz im not sure what up and down is. still having no luck with power, was just curious, how does this happen? ive never had this problem before is it coz the car heats up in the summer months or just an electrical fault?

sound like you only found the constant. you will need to have the keys in the ignition set to the ACC position to get a reading for the other wire in the loom. This is the one that tells the unit to turn on when you turn the car on.

Yellow should be constant and Red will be switched by the ignition barrel. Also test for an earth in the loom, Will be the black wire.

What model unit do you have? Model number should be printed on the face somewhere if not it will be on a sticker on the metal shell of the unit somewhere.

Did you check the fuse in the back of the unit just above where the loom plugs in? Also the fuse in the fuse box under the dash?

I have tried everything, had the cd player inside the house all night so it had pleanty of time to reset because i cant find the reset button on the face of the cd player head unit anywhere, went back out today to test it, plugged it all in, put the keys in & turned to accessories, no power to the cd player still, even with the car running theres no power, i tested the cd player loom plug with a test light when the car was turned to accessories and when the car was running and i still only got that one wire to light up, checked the audio fuse in the boot, the electrical fuses under the dash and the fuse next to the loom plug at the back of the cd player, even replaced the lot just incase it looked fine but it wasnt, theres still no power at all to the cd player.

its kind of weird because my clock has no power either (only a very very faint light that you can only just see at night) and it always resets back to 12:00 when i turn the car off then back on, so its not holding the time or lighting up fully.

The air con will not turn on with the car, i have to manually turn it on every time and its never set to the temperature i previously had it (always to the factory 25 digrees), could this all be to do with the same thing?

i installed dash neons a few months ago & i remember i set all the wires up incorrect by accident to a toggle switch (before doing it correctly) and i seen a tiny bit of smoke coming from the wires around the ignition, could this be anything to do with it? my clock hasnt worked since that day.

Probably best you visit an auto electrician at this stage and explain it all to them.

Multimeter set to resistance if you really want to give it a go yourself, however I wouldn't recommend it.

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
