Hi guys,

I have an IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop which I have had for a few years.

About 3 weeks ago I spent $420 having the hard drive replaced because it failed (VERY painful).

About a week after that the screen failed and I gave up and bought a new computer. (EXTREMELY painful)

Is it worth anything to sell as is?

Is it worth fixing?

How much does it cost to replace the 'lamp' in the screen (what I was told has failed)?

Should I just bin it!?

Any ideas would be swell.

Cheers

Chris

Sounds like you got ripped off for the HDD unless its a 128GB SSD.

I would get the HDD and buy a cheap HDD case from MSY to convert the HDD to an external drive.

Get the RAM and give it to a mate that may want it or sell it on eBay - don't expect much money.

Or sell the thing piece by piece to get more money back - but be prepared for a slow sale.

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
