hey guys sad to say this but this is the first time iv been on skylines australia.....i realy should have come earlier but now i am so here we go...

i am currently in the process of rebuilding my rb26 in my r32 GtR the guys at toda really put me in a bad place and now i am in the process of putting their mess back together....

my main problem is the kind of main bearing and connecting rod combination i should use....some say one thing others say another and it all comes to preference with workshops but what i want to know is what others are using and if they have had any problems with them....

i will take any opinions on board and would appreciate the help....

thanks guys

The bearings and rod combo wont mean much if the engines not built right, pick the best known engine builder in your state, don't get sucked in to using some shit talking show pony, and do some good RESEARCH on this one as it will make all the difference in the end, it also depends on your expectations with the engine build and budget, the rest should fall in to place, as far as choice goes ill leave that to others. :)

agreed take it to someone who knows thier RB's, not some v8 pro as nearly all the engines ive had come in from that type of shop rattle thier heads off and fill the rocker covers with oil as they know nothiing of restrictors and so forth that these engines require. There are some very good shops in NSW that can set you on the right path.

As for main bearings we run Kings exclusively but the type is not so important but the precision in which the crank is prepared to suit said bearings is crucial. For example ALL our engines are tunnel bored assembled with the bearings then the crank is prepared to achieve the required clearance.

I think you should list what you have (parts wise) and what your apllication and powergoals.

Please dont try and build car that drives like the Mines R34, there is so much to that car, very little has to do with it being 2.6L and running smallish twins. It has more to do with the crasy short diff ratios, carbon prop shaft, some 250-300kgs lighter then std...not to mention it has a 6 spd where R32/33s have 5 wider gear ratios...list goes on

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
