My 1998 Er34 Sedan Gt-t Stolen From Macleod (3085)

Recommended Posts

Last night my Skyline ER34 GT-T sedan (reg WVZ860) was stolen from the front of my home. This happend sometime between 10pm WED 18/11 and 7am THU 19/11 on Strathallan Rd Macleod (3085).

The car is silver, lowered, factory body kit, no rear wing, Volk Evolution 4 17's.

If you see this car or hear anything about it, please call Heidelberg Police on 03 9450 8000 (24 hours). Photos below.

What alarm?

It has an immobiliser. I guess they knew what they were doing. And on a hot night all my neighbours had their windows open in their homes... no-one heard a thing.

Damn. I pass Heidelberg regularly (MacLeod isn't that far). I'll keep an eye out. (Only problem is Silver R34 sedans are becoming way common out that direction - I know of 4 I see on a regular basis - All N/As)

But since yours is a GT-T might be a little easier to spot.

Do you remember anyone following you home lately? Certain cars driving up and down your street - who are not your neighbours? People walking past your house regularly?

I'm quite paraniod about it. If I suspect I'm being followed I pull over to a random street and lead them on, or if I know the area I lead them to a dead end street.

If they look agressive/tough drive to the nearest cop shop or petrol station - they have CCTV and can record details of the suspect following you.

Quick story for everyone:

I was followed by a guy in a VN calais once - I drove to random streets, even double backed - he was still following me. So I pulled into a dead end st (court), did a U-turn and stopped, he must have known the game was up and he sped off - never saw him again.

My conclusion: He must have been after my car (wanted to find where I live) or just some random guy being an idiot.

Its FOUND!!! Now being recovered by the Police! I'm very relieved.

The dash and centre console is all removed (including my $100 stereo unit LOL). I didnt think that climate control systems were worth enough to steal a car for. Its a real mess inside, but apart from the damage around the door lock, the rest seems ok (although, its dark).

Its being towed and off to CSI tomorrow for checking over. Thanks to you all for your well wishes.

Michael.

I recall hearing about people stealing cars and removing parts such as the full interior, including the dash, which wouldn't damage any parts of the car. The insurance company would mark it a financial write off and send it to fowels or pickles. The person who stole the car in the first place would buy it back and replace all of the removed parts and sell it for a decent profit.

lucky you got it back =) - Was the immobiliser AUS standard? (dual circuit / black wiring etc?)

Yep, Aus standard to comply with the insurance policy.

Its gonna be parked in the driveway from now on. I'll just have to move my wife's car out to the street each night.

    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
