I have come across a clear coat product called climat by accident , the GTR i just recently bought has been coated with clear coat , its imported from japan and is used over there to stop paint running as they have acid rain , its like a hard ass glass finish used all over the car , plastics , glass , paintwork it is re-applied every 2 years . A bit like RAIN X but for bodywork ,not just glass , i have been told this is an excellent product but does anybody else in Australia use or know where to buy a similar product locally !. Anyway heres a few pics of my GTR 32 !!!!!! :P

Does anyone else out there use a similar product that lasts 2 years ?????

Question is how long they last and how much. If coating the whole car cost a grand or 2 and last only 1 or 2years, I reckon not a lot will wanna do it considering you'll only need to polish it once a month or fornight. And a lot of us kinda enjoy washing the car.

I feel sorry for ya.

Have you seen what this shit looks like further down the track

big flaking of bits of clear coat crap, not a good look.

acid rain?? to lazy to look after there car more like it.

Oh shit. Yea that reminded me of my carbon wing. 100% true. Will get blemish/yellowish over time and flakey. Dont know if quality/brand of clearcoat plays a part in it or not but definitely shit on the carbon wing.

PS: not very fun spend hours sanding the clear away.

in japan you can see the door handles on newish cars paint runs down the body , majority have this product , it goes on just like wax . who knows what your on about!

Cmon Brandon grow up

You can get places that do paint protection on cars, similar to what they have from factory if that's what you are talking about.

yes but this product you apply yourself , by removing grease and debris from body first with a cleaner then apply climat to body , let dry to haze and buff off. the finish is like glass, but its all in the prep !

Sorry? What has that gotta do with growing up?

I just re-read your post before this and found you're actually using something like a polish thats work as sealant instead of what we're thinking of. I'm using the Mother range for clear-coat if that helps. Works wonder but you'll still need the wax every 6months or so and polish whenever you need it.

I'll check later when I'm home. But pretty sure they're safe. That bottle cost way more than the gaint bottle of autoglym polish I have.

Anyway you're missing the point. What we're going on about the clear-coat is we thought its a spray (like paint), or at least I am, which is used for sealing paintwork or making the surface smooth/shiny. These will peel after time and its like a layer of plastic which will become yellowish too.

Where did you find Climat?

I use Auto Glym Car Polish... How does Climat compare to Auto Glym, does it give a better polish / shine result?

I found climat in japan its used to protect cars from acid rain in the cities ,does auto glym coating eventually crack and go yellow , i have heard of it but never used it , climat is like a looking at a reflection in water (gay),i havent owned the car long enough to re-coat but makes me wonder if one day if climat will crack and discolour?????? will wait and see !

If that was a question, then no, I have polished my car last year with Auto Glym when I entered into the 2008 Auto Salon and still till today the paint has been fine.

I guess if you spend a lot of time on any car with polish, it can be like looking at your refection in the water... LOL!

You still dont get it do you? I said the clearcoat we thought you were referring to is a type of paint that is sprayed on. Not something like a polish. The yellowish and blemish I'm going on about is for the paint spray type of clearcoating.

Anyway this is the mother product I'm using. Its comparable to zymol's finish from memory (used to work for sparkles detailing and I find zymol's result is the best I've seen).

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
