Given your bro drives a hyudai excel and is selecting his next car based on age then I would not bother trying anymore if I were you. He sounds like one of many people that dont know shit about cars and never will.

This sack of shit is a 2008... he will love it!

I would have given up aaages ago

i'd be going the aussie built heap because a 10k r34 is likely to be nasty, where as you will find a clean vx for well under 10 leaving money for other things.

A 10k Automatic Non Turbo Sedan R34 is right on the mark.

i got my R34 AUTO N/A COUPE for 10.5k and its clean...coupe of small scratches, thats it.

Had a stateroads pre-purchase check done also, report was good.

So i would imagine you could get a very good condition r34 auto sedan for 10k

There is an R31 GTS with a t3 and supporting hardware, forgies etc for $12500. Seeing as he has just got his licence he would probably kill himself, but it sort of sounds as if you dont really like him anyway so try and talk him into it.

But really, there is one for sale, looks nice too.

Doubt that would interest him., is it for sale in here?

Brother in law just got of his P plates and has about 10k to buy a car, he seems pretty set on a lancer but i reckon there has to be something better......I may be wrong, but there just too girly to me

So throw some opinions at me, ideally post 2000 and under 100,000kms

S14 with an SR20. Good basic performance. Bit older though.

just an idea..

bzr ae111 toyota levin? havent checked prices lately but they were around the 12mark about 3 years ago.. pretty sure they made them up to 2001... 1.6l blacktop motor, 6 speed box, unique, looks good, lots of parts and will run to 8800rpm all day everyday..

Sounds cool to me :)

Ive kinda come to the realization that what we consider cool, is not what he considers cool..

Another friend just sold his clean vy commy to buy a barina for fux sake he is 6 foot 4, but it seems fuel economy is more important than being able to fit in your car ,f**k if your that broke you need a better job not a smaller car

I swear real car lovers are a dying breed

I must say close to 5l/100km fuel figures would be nice just know my GTT won't even get close i'll be happy if i get around 10/100 although thats what i use to get in my n/a s13 so that is unlikely

Yeah but my point is i couldnt care what my fuel costs if i get enjoyment from the drive, it is all worth it

I speak to many people these days that want to have a cool car, but dont actually enjoy driving

If you dont enjoy driving fine, f**k off and buy ya barina and dont pretend to care about cars

Haha it's true i don't see how people can't enjoy driving but that's just how i am it's great fun especially now that i finally have boost to play with its even better can't wait for my first cruise in the new car.

Does your brother want a quickish car that doesn't use lots of fuel? If so i'd probably go with VTEC honda's. 10k for turbo cars will be getting you some old ass cars generally although might get a later model r33 or s14a if lucky although low k's would be unlikely

i fully agree with this, my cousin brought a r33 gts-t and then sold it after a year cos he complained it used to much petrol, and in that time he never ever played with it like only once in that year i saw him give it a bit of accelerator and once he got to 120 he stopped..

he then sold it and now he drives his gf's falcon on gas, and he brags bout how it was the best life decision he made cos he saves so much money on fuel...and then bags me for want a jap car cos theyre 'expensive and not worth it' to him

and there was this other guy down the road who traded his supra in for a astra...

dickheads these days

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
