Gotta love the interweb.

To make things clear.

I understand your position(s).

I disagree with them.

That doesn't make me ignorant.

My apologies. You are entitled to your opinion no matter how correct/incorrect it is.

I think you are looking at it from the wrong direction. I agree that F1 engineers and designers do not have road cars in mind when they invent a new part or technology. They are there to win races in F1 only and couldn't care less about the car industry.

What I'm saying is that car manufacturers look to F1 for ideas and new technology and use what they think can be applied to their production cars.

Whether this is purely for "fashion" or not, there is no denying this occurs.

Anyway, enough of dribbling over splitting hairs, who's going to win the next GP?

Red Bull and Mark Webber anyone?

Bernie once again taking F1 to parts of the world where nobody gives a shit. Its NASCAR country where even IRL dont do as well. What hope has F1?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the crowd of 10-12 people in the stands for the weekend's GP. I wont dare bet who will win in the sphincter of the universe. I personally think Ferrari are overdue for a good weekend and think it will be close between Nando and RBR, possibly Massa rememberign what made him quick around there

I'd rather see them keep the classic Euro tracks than take it to places like Texas where they couldn't care less.

As much as I'd like to see the Ferrari's do well this weekend, I think RBR will still be the team to beat. Ferrari is going to try their new rear wing (from Spain) again tomorrow. External threats could come from Button and Kubica also, potentially even Rosberg and Schuey but not likely imo

I just don't understand why they didn't consider Watkins Glen, Road America, Road Atlanta or even Laguna Seca... Throw 20-30-40 mil at any of those circuits, make a few changes to the track layout, upgrade pits, grandstand and facilities... Viola! But noooooo... Bernie is a comple f*ckwit...

Webber a New hope? Vettel Strikes Back? or the Return of the Fez?

US GP for 2012, in Austin Texas!

Texas US Grand Prix!

Austin 3:16. Why? I don't bloody know!

I agree with the other post that the US has several worthy tracks already. Why they're building a brand-new road course in SOUTHERN America (NASCAR country) is beyond me. This will probably flop. I hope to be proven wrong, but all I can say is I'm glad it's not my money.

I do have to say, though, several of the US's top tracks would need more than a small investment to run F1. Watkins Glen and Laguna Seca, for example, would need extensive works to make FIA safety standards. There are a couple of sections of both where run-off is a major issue. Then again, they run at tracks like Monaco and Albert Park, which are as bad or worse.

    • Infiniti US are teasing a manual Q50 as a way to refresh a (very old) model. https://torquecafe.com/manual-performance-sedans-arent-dead-yet/ Can't be too technically difficult given the Z has the same motor with a manual gearbox......here's hoping there is a JDM version we can import here, that would save me a world of headaches
    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
