Well picked up my r34 today and figured i should say gday here will hopefully be joining in with as many events as i can.

Car i got is a just about completely stock manual 2001 r34 GTT skyline. Only thing i know isn't stock is the gearknob which is a bit unfortunate but not a big issue to me.

Anyway here are some pics with the cop of a car i have been driving around as well (s13 = non-turbo fail)

Actually have a couple of Q's you guys might have answers for.

1. i have that little nissan prince sticker on the back there and its stuck as hell any ways to get it off without damaging paint?

2. My headlights have that yellowing that seems to happen fairly commonly and not sure on what to use to try to bring it up to looking good again.

thanks for the nice comments guys

Meguiars PlastX, works a treat on yellowed/blotchy 34 headlights

and as for the sticker, you can try heating it with a hair dryer or heat gun, not leaving the heat on one spot for too long, and then slowly work your way in from one corner, once you get the sticker off just use a warm damp cloth to rub the excess sticker glue off.

If need be you can clay bar anything left behind.

and welcome, PS, love the steering wheel, was considering re-trimming my stock one in a very similar way to that one, only with a more golden/tan colour where your silver is

I thought the wheel was stock too has it been re-trimmed to be like that or is it cause it is a series 2?

Thanks heaps i actually found the DIY section just before and saw how to do the lights with sanding back and all but would prefer not to sand it unless i really need to i'll give the Meguiars ago and steal my mum or sisters hair dryer

welcome mate!

i vote less r34 more s13 :)

*flamesuit on*

Great purchase mate and welcome!

+1 vote!!! :D:(

lol why oh why although i must say the s13 was great fun since i didn't have to care about the car itself but no air con in the current heat was killing me

yeah its a s2 steering wheel.. wanna swap? carn..

haha nah i'm alright the s1 wheels look pretty boring :)

Looks like i'll get a new headunit, speakers and alarm all installed by Chris from audio express since he has been recommended so much on here and even the compliance guys that i bought my car off (imperial motor imports) highly recommended him too makes it easy on me knowing he is so good. Although i have not yet gotten in contact with him will probably do that once i have sold the s13 so i have bit of spare cash

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
