I currently have mazda 6 MPS which I love to death. The problem is simply one of space. No wagon version and the fact the seats dont fold down in the MPS really limits its usefulness.

I detest SUV's and if I want AWD with pace my options are limited to an Audi or STi Liberty..both big dollars.

Loving the Nissan product, I am seriously considering a 2003 Nissan Stagea M35 AR-X FOUR Black 5 Speed Automatic Wagon which I am going to look at tomorrow at Northshore prestige.

Couple of questions that maybe you guys can help me out with:

1. Can I get an iPod adapter for the Bose head unit?

2. Am I stuck with the Japanese characters on the pop up screen?

3. Having always owned a manual, how good is the tip tronic style shift in the auto?

4. Suggested upgrades. I am thinking a pruning of the ride height and a nice cat back exhaust first up. Maybe some airbox mods as I love the whoosh I get in the MPS with a inner front guard mounted intake.

cheers and thanks for your help.

You will love the ARX over a "6".

My mum has a Mazda 6 (fully optioned) and she still says how much nicer my RS is.

Q's and A's

1. Yes. I have a PA11-NIS in mine, but this has been superseeded by the PA15-NIS. Not difficult to install yourself, just a bit time consuming. Install guide is HERE

2. Definitely not. Andy65b has the english conversion up and running. Look here for screen shots

3. Ok, but nothing special.... once you adjust to the delay.

4. Turbo back exhaust. Fisher mk 2 or 3 intake.

The ARX is the jacked up "crossover"? version which has more road clearance. If you dont need this clearance, consider a RS/RX model, or if you have the coin, the AXIS model (by Autech). The ARX does have features that none of the other models have though, so there are reasons to buy one and then lower it (one member on here has done exactly that).

Stick a pod filter on and you will definitely hear the intake sound...its loud enough just with the stock airbox...

2 actually. Both have used Bilstein shocks, one with Bilstein and one with Eibach springs.

Pod filter? Really?? Only if you want the induction noise. You will not see/feel any power benefit from a pod over a decent panel filter on a stock M35.

Thats the reason I said it. I was referring to this from the original post:

M35 is quicker than a Mazda 6 MPS to 140. but you have to know how to launch your M35 :)

yes ive tested it, my boss owns an MPS

I await with baited breath for you to tell us how you launch your m35 :(

everyone else knows lol

brakes on, floor throttle, wait for rear wheels to spin and back off the throttle a little. hold it till the lights go green and when they do, stop braking and floor throttle again :P

yup, not good for gearbox or atessa system. but it scares some people that dont expect it :D

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
