I Has Been Defected Last Night, Get Few Questions

Recommended Posts

I need clear the defect before 24th Feb. if I keep driving the car and any blue boys pull me over before 24th Feb, I will get another defect for the same reason? or I just tell them I had one defect already then they won't give me another one again?

mate from what i know youll cop a fine for driving a defected vehicle

i think you gotta go to vicroads and get a temporary rego to drive it

hey i gotta question for you

do you need to get a full roadworthy or do you just have to fix what they said was unroadworthy and where do you have to take it

i think its depending on wat the defect is for, i would not recommend driving it though. What area was the defect given in?

As for the above question- if its a major its a full rwc otherwise for a minor just the items picked

you only fix what they said was unroadworthy, that's fine, and go to vic road and clear it before the date coming.

I had a minor, in eastern suberb.

my car is low, that's it.

yeah thats no good to me cause i bought a car that was supposed to be registered and on the way home find out it had a canary put on it when the previous owner lent it to a friend and that friend didnt tell him so i dont when the date was but i found out its for the intercooler, pod filter and boost gauge i didnt know intercoolers and boost gauge were unroadworthy

intercooler and pod filter, u only can have one. all air intake system, max u can modified is one part, if u modified two parts from the air intake system, its illegal.

man, every time if u has been defected or pull overed, don't just get the fine and go away, ask any question about ur car to police. make sure u know what they are thinking. then you will know what they don't like.

I just asked my friend, he said if your car had minor,u can stick the yellow paper on ur windscrean, and u won't get any reasonable defect again before the deadline date.

the defect notice has a date which is usually 7 days after being issued. After then you can only drive ur car to the mechanics and no daily usage. U can call vic roads for an extension if u need more time but the last time I called them for an extension the girl said u actually get a 2 week grace period after the 7 days expires. Dunno if that's still in effect but call vicroads if need be.

Bottom line is don't get caught driving after the 7 days unless ur heading to a mechanic otherwise u will cop another fine

it wont be 2 months - it'll be 24th Jan, not Feb.

true that. U can get ur car raised easy. Traction Tyree and suspension in rowville did my car when I was defected for height not long ago. $140 for raise n all wheel allignment pretty cheap

yeh thing that suprised me most is time frame how'd u even get till the 24th of jan? u mean cops actually took into consideration everyone is closed at the moment? i'd have expected them to relish the thought of making you be off the road for agess unable to drive..

bad luck though but if you got coilovers its easy.

wanzi - there is no grace period you can use the car for upto a 1 month after the 7 days provided its for the purpose of to and from mechanic/repairs or vicroads themselves. after this they MAY suspend your rego.

that game from a lady from vicroads I spoke to while I was defected. Maybe she just meant unofficially as in not in the laws but they won't mind. Either way she let me get away with it

Surprise surprise...operation RAID again. However, to be fair to the cops , what did they get you for?

Operation Remove All Impaired Drivers is aimed at removing Impaired Drivers, as the name would suggest.

Isn't it something else that is on at the moment that is a blitz on ALL un-roadworthy cars?

If you have a minor for too low, you could still get a major for something else if the Officer finds something and deems it suitable for a Major defect, so do not think you are immune to a defect notice as you already have one.

They could also add to your existing defect could they not?

Don't know if you have read my other thread. However, even if they've defected you before...they can, fine you $292 again and again and again and again and again if they feel like it. In other words, even if you're defected with a yellow canary on your windscreen OR you've recently cleared it with Vicroads with a full RWC, they can still dick you if they feel like it. It's farked.

so, did you remove the atmo bov? cause if not, aint no one round here gonna feel sorry for ya kev

Hamish,

As you may or may not have read in my other thread...YES, atmo BOV removed and stock airbox installed....but they still got my for other shit like tint and a rusted screw on my strut bar. WTF.

    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
    • -10 is plenty for running to an oil cooler. When you look at oil feeds, like power steering feeds, they're much smaller, and then just a larger hose size to move volume in less pressure. No need for -12. Even on the race cars, like Duncans, and endurance cars, most of them are all running -10 and everything works perfectly fine, temps are under control, and there's no restrictions.
    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
