well my series 1 stag started to have problems just as i was passing through warnnambool, started losing power at about 3000 revs. I made it to a campsite i had planned to stay at in peterborough, however now it wont start without banging under the fuel tank, and shortly dies thereafter. So im stuck here untill tuesday with my only hope being to tow to warnnambool to get it done. Does anyone know the part number for the fuel pump or what local cars share the same one? Also would my best hope be trying the nissan dealer in warnnambool, or any other suggestions? Anyone live around this area? Cheers

Look for a walboro drop in to suit R32 GTR. should be the easiest fit and they are said to be the same fuel tank. 180ish from bursons.

Almost any nissan pump or at least any skyline pump should get you home if you can get a second hand one cheap. If you can wait you can get one from here:

which is a new intank Walbro with a nissan fitting kit for NZ$165 which should work out to about the same in aussie dollars with postage. Of course if you can get one where you are it will be worth paying a bit more just to keep you on the road.

Yeah pretty easy to change too, now that I've been through that... but good idea to a) disconnect the battery b) have very little fuel in the tank (like 1/4) c) have a big fire extinguisher onhand with someone ready to operate it and d) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY

...so yeah if you're comfortable kneeling in the back of your wagon with your arms up to your elbows in a fuel well then you can change it yourself. Pump size is 38mm diameter x 90mm length. That's a match with the standard pump's diameter and as near as makes no difference a match for the standard pump's length. The stock FPR should handle the increased flow rate just fine; at least well enough to drive back to a tuner carefully :wub: Most difficult part of fitting an aftermarket pump like the Walbro (which fits easy) in my opinion is changing the electrical connector to fit (although it MIGHT use the same one as stock - can anyone confirm this?)

i had the power wire come loose of my fuel pump (040) after going thro a rather large pot hole and i pulled it out,rewired it and re-assembled it on the side of the road, at 1am in the morning with a hyundai excels headlights on.wasnt very fun.then a week later the fuel pump fried itself.

its not a hard job,once you've done it

pretty sure my stock connectors were the right size for the 040 terminals

rubyrs4 if your in the warrnambool area that would be great! Still stuck here, bursons cant get a walbro for a week or two, trying nissan and other spare parts dealers now

If that doesn't work, it'd be quicker for me to post my pump to you surely :)

I have not replaced a fuel pump in the Stagea yet but I know from previous experience that if the Tank lid has a rubber O ring that its best to replace it when changing the pump, as the factory ones seem to blow out and get larger on contact with air. As I said this might NOT be the case for you , but might be an idea to look into it.

where do you get these from? can you get generic items?

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?  
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.  
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them 
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
