good news guys!

as halle informed me, e85 is now available at the pump for 109c @ fueltown southland!

i have contacted the store and spoken to the manager, and the fuel is supplied by powerplus. the fuel is also a 91/ethanol blend like united's

after speaking to fueltown, they informed me that getting the fuel from csr was impossible as the big fuel companies have signed contracts for the next 6 months preventing anyone else purchasing e85, however they are not using it themselves... and the contracts are probably going to get renewed.

the fuel, is selling at a rate of only 300l per week, so c'mon guys, lets go help 'em out!

i'll be filling up and testing later this week, and will post results when done.

No - E85 is E85.

The powerplus98 fuel is their 98 octane fuel.

Powerplus supply Fueltown Southland with both.

If they have several places with their 98, hopefully those same servo's will have E85 soon as well.

Although it is a MASSIVE cost to setup E85 @ a servo. If they aren't moving several 1,000 litres of E85/week from one servo then they wont be spending big to stock it anywhere else for the time being. Probably one of the reasons King St United still does not have it setup.

One can only assume the servo out West isn't doing as big of a trade as expected or something, as it all comes down to money

it is selling @ 300lt a week, so you can see why they aren't stocking it at many places yet....

as for the corroding issues... its fine in a skyline, but you do need a full ecu. enough headroom in your fuel system and a full tune for it

yeah I did a quick read around the E85 and looks like the car need to be prep for 'flex fuel' capability...

not recommended in 350Z which uses VQ35DE - that means probably no for me too (V35).

sounds like a lot of hassle to get it tuned to E85 when only a few places stock it... what is the effect if it's tuned to E85 and you fill up with regular?

E85 has a much higher octane rating which means there will be more chance of detonation.

A 1000ltr tank would be fine, as long as you hold a dangerous goods license to transport and store it, not to mention having the hazchem signs out side your house and all the emergency hazchem safety gear, and on second thoughts all this in a residential area, best bet is not to tell any one and pray there is never a fire in your area.

A 1000L tank of E85 has the potential to be quite disastrous, especially if you live in a bushfire-prone area. I hate to even imagine it.

Also doubt your basic insurance would cover your house and all your belongings being levelled by a massive ethanol fireball. E85 releases approx 30 kJ/gram of energy. 1000L of E85 going up = 30 GJ = 6.5 tons of TNT. Not a good idea.

      So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
