Personally I dont like the R33 GTS-T. Not one bit. The R32 GTS-T looks that whole lot angrier, while sporting alot of character. My favourite, is of course, the GTR.

I'm a big power person. No other car can put down the amount of power a GTR can on the street. the WRX/Evo/GTO bridage just cant make power the the GTR can, and the cars that can make the same power, like JZA80 Supras, cant get that power down and are useless on the street.

i like how my skyline looks, how it goes (still stocko), how it sounds (both inside and out, got boomin system) and that ive had it for over a year and only had to replace the clutch, everything else is going strong

Alot of people are saying "sleek sporty looking".  But when i look in shop windows at my car's reflection (pathetic I know)  I reckon it looks frig**  MEAN !  Ooooo yeah !

Nah, not pathetic at all (I do it too). I agree, the R33 looks more mean than sleek or sexy.

A S7 RX7 looks sexy...

I followed (and loved) the GTR when it was racing at Bathurst in the early 90's. Then I found out how much they cost, and I just decided they were a mythical exotic that I'd never be able to afford and just forgot about them (the same way I don't pay any attention to Porsches, Ferraris, etc).

Got back into V8's when they took over the racing at Bathurst, bought myself a VS Commodore V8, knowing it was slower than a WRX, but for the cost I figured was still worth it.

A couple of years later a friend and I were talking about cars, and he mentioned Skylines that were faster than a WRX when stock. At first I thought he was talking of those old 80's box shaped things and I said no way, and then he said no, the ones built in the 90's that weren't released here. I then became educated in grey imports.

Talked a bit more, found out that he was referring to GTR's, but that the GTS-t's were almost as fast. Wtf is a GTS-t?! Did more research, found out its specs and features, and decided I really wanted one because I could afford it. It took me over a year after that to get my act together and sell the Commodore though.

One and a half years after my upgrade to the R33, I don't regret the upgrade one iota. It is the only car I've owned that I've truly fallen in love with. The Skyline is 2 years older than the Commodore but a quantum leap over it in almost every department. There are a couple of "smart" things about the Commodore that aren't in the Skyline though. eg, deadlocking driver's door, no passenger lock, factory immobiliser, ski-hole in rear seat, telescopic steering wheel adjustment, passenger air bag, ABS (option mine doesn't have), gas struts on bonnet, and a few others. But those aside, the Skyline is still a much better car and so far ahead in almost every other department.

Even though it's only a "lowly" GTS-t and not a GTR, I still hail it. The only car I will ever upgrade it to is a GTR, or *possibly* an R34 GTT (doubtful). If I start a family in the next couple of years there's no way I'm trading it in for a family sedan. I will just pull an extra car out of my arse if needed!

  • 5 years later...
yah! its really cool! same as I like Holden too! lol

6 years on...and I bet most of us still feel the same way about the platform.

Great stuff!

I reckon it's great regurgitating these old threads, reflect, and move on to all that's to come!

Wow there are a lot of old thread bumping going on round here lateley......

I love my line cause its hotter that a falcodore and i can still put the family in it and do mountain runs

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
