havoc34
Hi guys would like to know weather after fitting up a after market BOV on a stock motor do i need to do any setting on the BOV itself or no need to? Cheers Daniel Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306846-aftermarket-bov-installation/ Share on other sites
Hanaldo
I assume its atmospheric? Probably going to see a lot of stalling while driving then... Should get it tuned to counter that, but I dunno if you can do that with a stock ecu. Also depends on what type of BOV it is i think, some of them have adjustable vents so you can control the pressure being released, etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306846-aftermarket-bov-installation/#findComment-5071109 Share on other sites
djr81
Two things come to mind: 1. The BOM is the source of information on the weather and atmospherics. 2. Aftermarket BOV's are a waste of time. You are far better off spending money elsewhere. havoc34
Hi, yup I'm staying plump back but like I was saying stock ecu but with cat back if I change to after market BOV any adjustment to be made on the BOV itself? And how to do it? Cheers Daniel Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306846-aftermarket-bov-installation/#findComment-5071300 Share on other sites
Hanaldo
Well plumb backs are fine then, but that begs the question: Why get an aftermarket one at all? Unless you have such a big intake that the air flow is more than the stock BOV can handle (considering you have a stock ECU, that seems unlikely), the stock one will be more than good enough. Its just a valve, there is no performance gain from them at all. You would be far better off spending the money elsewhere, or saving up for something much more useful Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306846-aftermarket-bov-installation/#findComment-5071301 Share on other sites
Dsturbd
Well plumb backs are fine then, but that begs the question: Why get an aftermarket one at all? I had the stock bovs push open when boost is over 10 psi , get hammer out n smash end in to get a bit more tension on spring run my 31 at plex with return off plumb back n car 3mph slower n laggier between gears Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306846-aftermarket-bov-installation/#findComment-5071348 Share on other sites
havoc34
Oh forgot to add that I have a plump back FMIC installed as well. So...... Cos very new to this Turboed car thing. Traitor7
Leave the standard BOV that's on their at the moment if its not causing you any problems.. No point in getting an aftermarket one as most people buy them for the different noises they make. Plumb back makes hardly any noise, so defeats that purpose. havoc34
Oh ok! I have the type of FMIC that uses the same path back as the original path. No the type that's like the GTR ones over the radiator fan shroud. SKYRYAN
Side mount stock intercooler? Or the pipes come in one side of the front mount and back out the same side. Not really plumb back or anything. Ehgriez
Dont see how it makes a difference. For all of you making a big comment about how its not an issue, he has mentioned he's had troubles with it holding boost. That being said I don't know much about what aftermarket BOV's are better than others, I suggest you call someone from the consolidated workshop thread, or a known parts store in perth i.e. kyp/jpc etc to see what they think will be best for you. ecentrix
Just get a Gate. Preferably one that works and has a good lock so no one can walk into your front garden. I don't see where he mentions that.. Agreed on calling / getting perth store on recommendation for aftermarket bov + installing it.
