Hi guys,

I am finishing up converting the front of my NM35 RS to the PM35 Autech 350S but am having a little trouble with the grill.

Basically, getting the complete OEM Autech grill from Nissan Japan would cost me just over $1k (!!!!!!!).... needless to say, it ain't happening.

What I would like to test out is if the NM35 Axis grill will fit (same top clips and bonnet ornament, just not sure if there is a difference in width between the two grills).

So if there are any 2001-2003 M35 Axis owners in Melbourne on here that wouldn't mind me bringing my car to test the grill size, please let me know.

I have a C34 grill.....should fit up OK.....same aren't they?

:(

Couldn't help yourself could you?

Custom stainless grill ftw, to go with the shiny wheels. :(

Dunno man.... with the way you go on about weight saving, wouldn't aluminium be better? :P

Ok, since I have couldn't be stuffed reading through all of the responses from all the Vic Axis owners, can I ask that ANY M35 Axis owner possibly lend a hand and measure the width of the top and bottom of the grill and also the width of the bonnet ornament?

I just replaced all my front end a couple of months ago. I will ring panel beater to see what is left over.

From memory grill was about $700 mark the lights were $2k each.

Some one else's insurance was paying so who cares about shopping around.

Yo what scotty said custom stainless grill FTW organize a group buy I already got the shiney wheels.

Yeah Mark, the prices for the grill assembly are just a tad high I think.

Could you possibly measure across the front of the top and bottom of your grill for me?

I can get an NM Axis grill with bonnet ornament for around $300, but I need to know if it will fit.

Sorry... what? WTF!?! 2K EACH? For the lights? How is that even possible? Were they just skimming some money off the top cos it was an insurance job? I would've figured max 1K each.

Sounds about right.

I call a couple of Nissan dealerships for a price on the series 2 Xenon headlights.... $2.5k each.

No skimming buddy. Two words for you JUST JAP. It was an $8000 repair 1 headlight 1 grill 1 bumper small repair and paint on the bonnet. What ever you do dont crash an axis.

I will measure up for you when the missus gets home this arvo.

Cool, thanks :ninja:

that's exactly what happened to my car when some dick reversed into me. Thank God it's covered by Shannons. 1 headlight, 1 front bar, 1 reo bar, grill, minor repair on the bonnet. All up about $6000 but headlight is not new as there's none from Nissan Japan atm, so I bought Cam's 2nd hand set :ninja:

Btw Cam I got the lights, so thanks!

Ok done measurements for you.

First one is top to bottom vertically straight up the center bar = 175mm

Second measurement is across the top of the grill= 970mm

3rd measurement is the lower length that was hard to measure because of the curve. I measured it across the lower horizontal bar on the grill =850mm

Thanks for that Mark.

Seems that it will not fit as it is ~80mm wider than the Series 2 Axis grill.

Oh well... grill-less for a while longer I guess

Ive got a sheet of ally here with your name all over it, for when you change your mind. :)

You can drill all the holes tho, or laser cut Nismo into it?

    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items
    • Funny, but really not funny. Thank god (most) f the world has moved on since then
    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile
